A Day To Remember

"Your ex is really pretty." Julianne said as we walked slowly down the busy boulevard of the fashion district. No wonder Lexi came to that coffee shop. "She's a model, but your're much prettier." I looked at her. Sometimes I forget that I have to look at her when I'm talking. Insensitive me, of course. "Aw come on, I do pity coffee dates but I don't take pity compliments." she teasingly hitting my elbow. "No seriously she wears like three layers of make-up, you're not wearing make-up are you?" I said with a seriously. "No, 'cause I look The Joker when I try to do it myself. It's good for halloween and everything but I think I'll just scare off my date." She laughed. "That's a good thing actually, in my opinion." I replied. I really actually think girls are better off without make-up. "You mean a girl dressing up as the Joker in halloween is a good thing?" she said raising her eyebrows. "Yeah, actually the phrase "Why so serious?" really turns me on." I was laughing my ass off. "Your're so wierd... I love it!" She grinned at me. "Only when I'm around you," I replied back. "It's funny how you acted so rude to your ex, I'm sensing she's the dumper." Julianne pulled her shoulder length hair behind her ear. I looked at Julianne. "She's a brat but actually she said either I give her up or I give up music as a career so I gave her up. That's the real reason we broke up." "Oh.." She looked down at the ground. "What about you? I mean high school sweethearts, and a month after your break-up a date with me?" I asked, being my skeptical self. "Actually we were drifting apart many many months ago, but last month was when we officailly broke up. Besides, it's not like I had a choice, I keep my promises." She smiled, while the wind was blowing through her hair, it was like one of those slow motion moments you'll never forget and I, certainly won't. "Personally, I thought you'd never contact me." Finally, revealing what I thought the whole week. "You kidding? After that day, I couldn't stop thinking about you." Her hands in her pocket not looking at me for my reaction. What she said, made me smile instantly. "Sorry, that sounded really creepy and corny." She finally looked at me. "I actually feel the same." I smiled We walked by the busy street of New York, very busy. With men in suits and their coffees from Starbucks rushing to their offices. On a saturday? Really? I smirked while Julianne said " It's sad they have to do this everyday, while we can just walk enjoying the beauty of everything." "Yeah, I got an office job once. It just made me more miserable then I already was, if that's even possible." "Actually my mother wanted me to get an MBA in Columbia but I suck at Math and she wants the impossible." She heavily exhaled. "It's like nobody understands. Even my ex thinks I'm crazy." "Some things aren't just meant to be, I guess." I replied, sticking my hands in my pocket trying to hide the sweat, yes I sweat profusely and it's horrible. But I can eat all I want and not get fat. Isn't that a dream? Well it's not when you're on a date with a beautiful girl. We reached Central Park, and I took in the beauty of the trees and the mesmerizing park. I came here sometimes, to jog . It still looks beautiful just like last time, except last time was the fall. So the rest of the day in the park we just ended up eating ice cream, getting chased by a freaking dog 'cause in the words of Julia "You smell lke hot dogs." It's never a good thing to hear a girl say that to you. Guess I'll have to change my deodrant but I couldn't help but laugh. We were running around Central Park like a bunch of crazy lunatics but we didn't care. I mean who would when they've got a 'freaking German Shepherd chasing them? Thankfully, the owner of the dog finally got the dog under control and apologized. Said that the dog got off the leash. "That is exactly why I'm a cat person." I answered her question about why I'm not a dog person, laughing. We then fed the ducks which were so gracious in thier movement. Well I fed them, Julianne has a bird phobia. How could she be so afraid of ducks? They're harmless. I asked her. I turned to her to ask that and by the time she replied I was bitten by a duck, not knowing my hand still had crumbs on it. She replied by saying "That, that is exactly why." I rapidly pulled my hand away. "Ow." I sucked the blood out of my hand and laughed sarcastically at Julia who by the way was so afraid that she stood a solid 15 meters away from me. "Animals really hate us don't they?"I said as she laughed while pulling me up from the green grass. "Hey! Not my fault you smell like food." she grinned. We then walked by normally, pretending all that didn't happen. I was having such a good time until I got a text. "Dude, aren't you coming to band practice? We have that gig tonight--Lee." He's the band drummer by the way, who loves banging his head way too much. But after all, he did come from a metal band so I get it. I read the text and looked at my watch. It's 2:00 p.m! Julia probably noticed me and took a look at her watch as well. She gasped and said "I can't believe we just spent hours togther and I didn't notice." "Me too, felt like only an hour." I brushing off the grass from my jeans. "Wow um, I have to be somewhere." she said fixing her discheveled hair. "Yeah me too. I'd like to do this again sometime tohugh." I smiled at her. "Yeah me too, it was alot of fun. I have to go, bye." she said as she and ran off in the opposite direction I'm headed. "Bye!" I waved at her and she turned and waved back. And with that, this is by far one of the wierdest, funniest, greatest date I've ever had with any girl. This day is one to always remember for me. ~~~ I finally reached Ben's garage, a.k.a band practice. EVerything was already set up and Ben and Lee were already trying out the chords to the new songs. "Finally! Look everybody, the so called singer of the band is here" Carson said sarcastically as he gave me a really mad look when I came in. "Sorry guys, I lost track of time." I picked up my guitar to sound casual. "How? You left the apartment at like 9. What the hell were you doing?" Carson muttered back at me. He was always a curious one but I couldn't help but smile at his question. "Are you doing drugs, Dean?" Lee dropping his drumsticks said as he got up, shocked. "What? No! " I yelled back at them. "Are you giving up on music ?" Carson asked me skeptically. "No! What the hell? Carson you should know, I write songs every single night. Do you really think I'd give up on music?" I couldn't believe them. "I'm sorry but I've never seen you 3 hours late to a jam session." Lee sitting right next to his keyboard said. "Fine I just really lost track of time. Can we play the songs now?" I asked while the whole garage was silent. I could feel looks coming from all corners of the room and I just clinched my jaw. But they all did find me mysterious, I never told them anything about myself except of course, my bother's death. After all I am 3 hours late to band rehearsal. I could feel my heartbeat in the rthymn of the drums, my long slender fingers as I strum the metal strings of my bass guitar. The harmony of my voice along with Carson's was just simply uplifting and made us all forget about what we just agrued about. We finished the song and Carson said "That was awesome." Everyone smiled and agreed so. " Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole and flows from heaven to the soul." This is what music makes you do, forgive and forget. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
