The Collision That Changed Everything
The morning sun filtered softly through the tall windows of Seiryo High School, casting warm golden light across the polished hallway floors. Students moved in clusters—laughing, chatting, living their usual school lives.
For most people, it was just another ordinary day.
For Haruto Aizawa, it was a disaster.
“I’m late… I’m actually late!” he muttered under his breath as he sprinted through the corridor, his bag swinging wildly behind him. His heart pounded, not just from running, but from the dread of facing his strict homeroom teacher.
“Why does this always happen to me…?”
Without slowing down, Haruto turned a sharp corner—
—and slammed straight into someone.
Books scattered across the floor. Papers fluttered into the air like startled birds. Time seemed to freeze for just a second.
“Ow—!”
Haruto fell backward, wincing as he hit the ground. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t see—”
His words caught in his throat.
Standing in front of him was a girl he recognized instantly.
Long, flowing hair. Calm, composed eyes. A presence that seemed to quiet the world around her.
Yuna Tachibana.
The most popular girl in school.
Haruto’s mind went blank.
“T-Tachibana…?” he whispered.
He expected anger. Maybe annoyance. Anyone else would’ve snapped at him.
But instead, something unexpected happened.
Yuna stepped forward… and grabbed his hand.
Haruto froze.
Her grip was firm—urgent.
“Don’t say anything,” she said quietly, her voice low and controlled. “Just play along.”
“W-What…?”
Before he could even process what was happening, her expression changed completely. Like flipping a switch, she suddenly raised her voice.
“Where were you? I’ve been waiting for you, Haruto.”
His brain short-circuited.
“Eh…?!”
Footsteps echoed from behind them.
Haruto turned his head and saw a tall senior approaching, his gaze sharp and focused entirely on Yuna.
“Tachibana,” the senior said, his tone serious. “Who’s this guy?”
For a split second, everything went silent.
Then—
Yuna tightened her grip on Haruto’s hand.
“He’s my boyfriend.”
Haruto’s soul left his body.
“…What?”
The words echoed in his mind like a broken loop.
Boyfriend?
BOYFRIEND?!
He stared at her, hoping—praying—that she’d laugh and say it was a joke.
She didn’t.
Instead, she leaned slightly closer and whispered, “Please. Just for now.”
Haruto swallowed hard.
This wasn’t normal. None of this was normal.
But the way she looked at him—calm on the surface, yet somehow desperate underneath—made it impossible to refuse.
“S-Yeah,” he forced out, his voice shaky. “I’m… her boyfriend.”
The senior narrowed his eyes, clearly unconvinced. For a tense moment, it felt like he might say something more.
But eventually, he clicked his tongue and turned away.
“…Tch. Whatever.”
As his footsteps faded, the tension in the air finally broke.
Yuna let go of Haruto’s hand.
Silence.
Haruto blinked.
Then reality hit him all at once.
“WHAT WAS THAT?!” he blurted out, scrambling to his feet.
Yuna looked at him, her expression already back to calm.
“Sorry,” she said simply. “I needed help.”
“Help?!” Haruto almost choked. “You just told him I’m your boyfriend!”
“I know.”
“You KNOW?!”
Around them, whispers began to rise.
“Wait… isn’t that Tachibana?”
“Did she just say ‘boyfriend’?”
“Who even is that guy?”
Haruto felt every single pair of eyes turning toward him.
His life was over.
Completely over.
“Just pretend for a few days,” Yuna said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear as if nothing unusual had happened. “Things will go back to normal soon.”
“Normal…?” Haruto repeated weakly.
There was no way anything about this could ever be normal again.
Yuna turned to leave, then paused for a moment.
“…Thank you,” she added softly, almost too quiet to hear.
And then she walked away.
Haruto stood there, frozen in place, surrounded by whispers, confusion, and a rapidly collapsing sense of peace.
“…What just happened to my life?”
That evening, as the sky burned orange with the setting sun, Haruto walked home in silence.
He looked up at the fading light, his thoughts still tangled.
“It was just an accident…”
A simple collision.
A random moment.
And yet—
“…why does it feel like everything just changed?”
A soft breeze passed by, carrying with it the faint memory of cherry blossoms.
And somewhere deep inside, a feeling began to grow—
Something unfamiliar.
Something real.
That was the day…
he crashed into love. 💖
