A Peek Inside the Process While we all agree there are solid steps to the writing process, we don’t all tackle them the same way. Maybe you write whenever the mood strikes. Maybe you’re what some writers call a pantser, flying by the seat of your pants until you discover a plot. Maybe your characters have more control than you do. Or, maybe you make elaborate outlines, actual maps of new worlds, and get a thick binder of research before you type the first word.
