XAVIER’S POV
“I can’t believe you went ahead with Zane’s advice.” Celeste said, as she poured some liquor into a whiskey glass.
I brought the glass to my lips, and downed the content in one gulp. “Well. Well. Well.” I said, ignoring the burning sensation of the liquid as it spread through my chest. “If it’s not my mother bossing me around.”
Celeste grunted, rolling her eyes in disgust. “Look I know you think I’m too much—”
I raised the glass at her face in acknowledgment. “Oh, you’re indeed too much. Really too much.”
Celeste shook her head. “I’m just saying, whisking away Alpha Diaz's daughter doesn’t sit well with me,” she began, and added almost immediately. “They’re our enemy Xavier.”
I gave my head a small nod. “You have a point Celeste. But we had a deal with Diaz.”
Another exasperated grunt escaped her throat. “What deal? Whst f*****g deal?”
I tightened my grip around the whiskey glass. “Watch your tone young lady.”
Celeste pressed her hand against her neck. “Perhaps you need to take a sprint or something,” I looked at my wristwatch ignoring her biting gaze. “You might have a mating ceremony to attend in a few hours.”
I lifted my chin enough to capture her facial features in one glance before I shifted my gaze.
The entire colour drained from Celeste’s face. “Wh-Wh-Wh-”
“That’s the only way she can breed for us.”
“Why do you even need a breeder in the first place?”
Oh my goodness! Of all the casualties I wanted to deal with today, going back and forth with one of my finest she-wolf warriors wasn’t at the top of the list.
Celeste’s facial muscles cramped like she was holding back a scream. Yeah, right. I don’t blame her. Not after warming our bed, we pulled up this stunt.
Goddamit! She knew damn well that we don’t comment to anyone.
She let out a sigh. “A breeder?”
No response.
There was no point indulging. Knowing who Celeste was, she was as territorial as her wolf. And if she found out Scarlet was our fated mate, she was going to lose it.
“Why on earth would you choose someone else to hear your pup, when I’m here?”
“Celeste I’m done with this conversation.”
A low growl escaped her lips. “I’m not, Xavier Castillo,” She pushed herself from her seat, pacing the length of the room. “I thought the Castillo brothers lived by a rule…”
“Still do.” I quipped.
She spun around, and faced me. “Then why the sudden change of mind?” Celeste folded her hands against her chest. “My source told me she’s a wolfless bitch.”
‘f*****g bullshit!’ My wolf snickered in retaliation. I quickly pushed him back, I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to have a confrontation with Celeste.
Silence rented the air for a few minutes. From the way her shoulders tensed, and the way her lips thinned it was clear Celeste was on the verge of losing it.
I gestured with a flick of my finger. “Come here.” My voice was controlled, commanding.
Celeste hesitated. Then, ever so slowly the tension rolled off her shoulders like it wasn’t there in the first place.
She strutted towards me, swaying those well rounded hips just the way I liked it. Damn! My body reacted to her, even though I was at a mind war with my wolf.
‘I don’t want her close to me.’ He insisted.
‘You don’t have a say with whom I decide to be with.’
Celeste splayed against my thighs, her hand on my chest. “I want her out of the pack.”
I let out a dry laugh, circling a good amount of strands around my finger. “Sweet cakes…” my voice carried a timber that made a woman’s body shake to their core.
Celeste let out a moan, fumbling with the buttons of my shirt.
‘Bastard!’ My wolf cussed at me, and pushed back to the deepest part of my heart.
“I don’t want to lose you to some bitch.”
My jaw tightened. Something sharp cut through my chest each time she said the word ‘b***h’
Scarlet was everything, layers and layers of pieces that were opened to the world but obscured away from us.
Stubborn. Venom dipped in honey. Delicate. And…and.
‘Where the f**k are you man?’ Zane’s voice cut through my thoughts. I snaked my hands around Celeste to steady her against my thighs as she traced her nails over my bare chest.
‘In my suite, what’s up?’
‘She tried to escape again. We’re in the secret room.’ Zane said and cut off the mindlink.
“I have to go now.” I said, moving my lips away from Celeste, right before our lips met.
“But we haven't get to start anything yet.” Her vice carried a tinge of frustration.
“We have all the time in the world to do anything,” I pushed myself up, pulled her up, and pressed her body against mine.
Celeste was hot. Hot in the way that commanded Alphas, and rogue kings. And if I was going to use as as a distraction to punish Scarlet I was going to do it.
My wind raised its head again. ‘Or you’re running away from something?’
Running away from something? If there was anybody who was going to be consumed by this mate bond, then it was going to be Scarlet.
“Remain in the suite, I’m coming back.”
Celeste bit her lower lips seductively. Then, she shrugged. “Fine. I’ll be waiting for you.” She said softly, tapping the bed.
I gave her a curt nod, and headed out of the suite. I ditched the elevator in the pack house for the back stairs.
The layout of the pack house was designed in a way only my brothers and I knew about the secret room. I pushed a button on the wall, it shifted.
I stepped into the hallway lit up with golden lights. I walked through a maze, and finally stopped at a door.
My heartbeat raced rapidly. The instant I stepped into the room, my wolf went berserk.
‘Mate! Mate! Our mate!’
