CHAPTER 11Ryan immediately saw that Miles was right when he called Mickey’s golf clubs old. When Ryan discovered them in the corner of the basement, they were covered with dust. After wiping them off, he discovered they were a set of original Ping Eye2 irons from the early 1980s. They were in decent enough shape to be usable, and so were the driver and putter. He’d buy some golf balls and a glove at the course.
He brought the clubs upstairs, set them by the back door, and joined Miles in the kitchen for breakfast. Miles was pouring the remaining contents of a milk carton down the drain and apologized that they would have to drink their coffee black today. At least the bread was still fresh so there was something to eat. Miles promised to stop by the store later to refresh the pantry.
