CHAPTER 40Miles left the house in time to pick up coffee and a sweet roll on his way to the Lakeville train stop. As promised, he was followed closely by two FBI agents. If he hadn’t known them, he wouldn’t have detected their presence. The ride to Chicago was, as always, short and uneventful. In fact, once he arrived in Chicago he had some time to kill. So, he decided to walk along the Chicago River to Reese’s building. Hopefully, he wouldn’t be scolded for deviating from the plan. Even though the nickname of the Windy City didn’t actually come from Chicago being windy, on this day it could have been. Miles had to hold the folder containing his report tightly to his chest. If it blew away, so would his whole plan.
