CHAPTER 41Miles was never so happy to be back home. Molly greeted him at the door in full squeal, her tail wagging furiously. The prospect of filling the coming days with mundane tasks and drama-free events was incredibly appealing. It occurred to him that he hadn’t checked his messages since leaving Chicago. When he did, he found two which were important. One from Bobbie asking if she could come to see him on Thursday, and one from Ryan asking him to call.
After texting Bobbie that Thursday would work, he called Ryan.
“Hi, Miles. What have you been up to?”
“As it turns out, quite a bit.” Miles detailed all that had gone on since they’d last spoken. From faking Olivia’s murder to the events at Reese’s building, the lengthy retelling spilled out of him like a waterfall.
