SAMANTHA
"Yeah, you heard me right. He was f*****g Jessy after what happened in my room, that's why he ghosted me."
She sucks in a sharp breath and starts pacing the floor.
"But, no. That's not possible, Brandon said he-"
"Well whatever Brandon said was a lie. I saw them with my own eyes, Kim."
"s**t, Xander." She licks her lips. "Look, I need to tell you someth-"
"Hey, what's taking you so long," Aiden comes around the corner and Kim rolls her eyes, not hiding her dislike of him. "Lunch is almost over, you should finish your food."
I look over at Kim.
"Just leave it, okay?" I tuck her stray strans of hair behind her ear. "See you later." Then I let Aiden walk me back with him to the table.
* * *
I wrap a towel around myself and pat my way to the bedroom. After applying some lotion, i head to the drawer and pull out white cotton panties. Cold air whisks into my room and I quickly turn around only to find Xander closing the window.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
He doesn't answer. He's wearing black jeans and a black hoodie with the hood thrown over his head.
"Leave, now." I point to the window.
He doesn't, he walks closer until I can smell his scent and draw it deep in my lungs. I fight the urge to sniff him, so i take a step back but he counters it. My back hits the wall and his hands slam on both sides of my head, caging me in. My grip tightens on the bow holding my towel in place.
"Did you f**k him?" He asks harshly. Like he's not the playful and carefree Xander I've come to know.
"What?" I ask dumbfounded.
"Did. You. f**k. Him?" He accentuates every word.
I search his shadowed face.
"That's none of your business."
"Are you sure about that?" He sneers and I lift my chin up.
"So what if I f****d him and enjoyed it?"
His shoulders square and fear starts to slip into my bones. This side of Xander scares me, he's wreckless when he gets like this. Last year, he was so mad after having a big fight with Jonathan and he sped off, his car almost went off a cliff and it's only then he got back in his carefree mood.
The other time, he almost beat one of the basketball team guys into a coma when he flattened his Audi tire on purpose. Then last year, he beaut up Aiden's friend so badly but rumors say it was over a girl. Xander wouldn't stop until he saw blood.
Danger calms him down. Would I really affect him that much for him to do something stupid? Do I matter that much? The answer is probably no. Maybe he's pissed because his ego is bruised, he expected me to chase after him like all those girls do. But what did I do? Go around with his enemy.
The way his eyes look at me instantly make me feel guilty, for what? I don't know.
"Xander.." I reach my palm for his cheek but he slaps my hand away and shoves off the wall, giving me his back.
"Xander.." I try again but when my hand connects with his back, he abruptly turns around and grabs my wrist.
"Not with the f*****g hands that touched him!" He growls the words out and I flinch. He shoves my hand away and then goes to the window, jumping down and disappearing into the night.
My heart tightens inside my chest. I start to pace the room and then pause, pulling up Kim's number and hitting dial. She picks up after a few rings.
"Yeah?" She sounds like she just got up from sleeping.
"What did you want to tell me?"
"The reason why Xander f****d Jessy is because I might have...made a mistake and mentioned you and Noah, then Noah made it sound like you two were a thing and fucking."
I briefly close my eyes.
"I have to go."
"Wait-" I cut the call before she continues and then pick up the first dress I see and throw it on. I rush down the stairs and out the door, I hear mom saying something but I ignore her and make my way to Xander's place.
A woman opens the gate and eyes me carefully, she realizes who I am and smiles politely.
"Miss Green, how may I help you?"
"Is Xander in, I would like to have a word with him.
"Yes, he is, I'll let him know that -"
"No." I cut her off. "Can I just see him right away."
She pauses for a bit but then nods and moves to give me way. We enter the house and I can't help but look around at the interior.
"Wow, this place is amazing."
"It is," she agrees. We reach in front of a certain door and she gestures to it. "He's in there."
"Thank you," I say and she leaves. I knock once but there's no answer, so I push the door and enter, clicking the door shut behind me.
His room is extravagant and smells like him. It's so beautiful and well organized for a guy. The shower is running, so I decide to wait by snooping around the table scattered with pictures and books.
"What are you doing here?" I jump at the sound of his voice and turn to face him. I didn't hear the shower turn off or the bathroom door opening.
His feet are bare, he's in black jeans that are unbuttoned and unzipped, his brown hair is wet and messy and he smells so fresh.
I clear my throat but before I can answer, he speaks.
"Leave."
"Xander.."
"What the f**k do you want, Samantha?!" He yells.
"I just want to talk, okay." I keep my voice neutral.
He chuckles humourlessly.
"Spare me the f*****g details, Samantha."
Samantha, not Sam, not doll.
"You can f**k whoever you want." He walks over to the closet. "Get the f**k out."
I stand there, rooted in place with watery eyes. Then I whisper so low I'm sure he hears me.
"But I didn't f**k him."
He pauses and slowly turns around.
"What did you just say?"
I wrap my hands around my arms.
"I didn't f**k any of them." I repeat with the same low tone. "I'm a virgin, Xander." I focus on my toes when I say the last words, feeling a bit embarrassed about it. Other toes line up in front of mine and then fingers are under my chin, lifting my face up.
Xander's eyes meet mine and he searches my face for any hint of me making s**t up.
"Fuck." He says and steps back, he walks over to the table and rests his hands on top of it, bowing his head between his shoulders.
I walk over to him and place my hand on his back, this time, he doesn't stop me.
"Xander.." my hand moves up his rippled back and to his shoulder, then I turn him around to face me.
"f**k, Sam.. why do you do this to me?" He whispers, his eyes are clouded with so much emotion.
"Do what?" I whisper back, searching his eyes.
He grabs my wrist and flattens my palm against the left side of his chest. I can feel the thumping his heartbeat.
"This." He says.
