NIGHT AT THE MUSK’s

CHAPTER THREE

The Musk’s are well known for their magnificent buildings and beautiful gardens. Sally looked in bewilderment at the beautiful mansion which is almost as tall as the Eiffel Tower in Paris. “ After you my lady” Derrick said teasingly, as he opened the door for her to come in .”Thank you my lord” she replied, and they both laughed. “ Welcome to our home , I’m sure you don’t see beautiful mansion like this every time, or would you rather me say, you haven’t had an opportunity to live in a mansion as beautiful as this” Mrs Musk said with a displeasing look.” Mum teases a lot “ Derrick said grinning. Sally couldn’t believe Derrick didn’t stand up for her when his mum insulted her indirectly, she felt really embarrassed and disappointed in Derrick.” Sally , you seem to be lost in thought”Mr Musk said. Sally gave a long grin and assured that she was fine. “ Thank you so much Mr Musk, you have a beautiful home” Sally said with a broad smile.“ I’ll show you to my room, Derrick said. Derrick’s parents looked at them, wondering if Derrick knew that Sally has to be prepared for the family rituals.” I wonder what he sees in that girl, her family ain’t even wealthy, this paupers always look for places to dig their golds” Mrs Musk said feeling disappointed. Mr Musk nodded in disagreement “ I have a different feeling about this one, I feel she’s genuine ” he said . His wife gave a displeasing look and walked away.

Sally was angry at Derrick “ I told you coming to your home was a terrible idea , now look ! your mother said a lot of hurtful things and you couldn’t stand up for me!! I’m so disappointed” Sally said looking away. Derrick was mute for a minute, thinking of how best to pacify her. “My love, you know whatever my parents say doesn’t change the fact that I love you so much, and I’d do anything to keep you , that is all that matters to me my love” Derrick said as he ran his hands through her back . She focused her eyes on his lips , as he reached for her lips, he kissed her passionately as she laid softly on the bed, he ran his fingers through her thighs and kissed her on the neck.” Let’s get to it “ Sally said, as he began to undress her.” Do you want me to put some ice on it” he said teasingly . He rubbed some ice on her bare body and kissed her n*****s slowly, he ran his lips through her thighs and kissed softly. He rubbed his groin against hers and whispered slowly in her ears, kissed her passionately and laid on her bare body. “ Derrick!!! “ his father badged into the room without knocking.” Knock dad , knock !!!” Derrick yelled, as he covered himself and sally with the duvet. “ We’re ready “he said , leaving the door opened. Sally was confused as she asked Derrick what her dad meant by the statement he made. Derrick tried to calm her down .“ Whatever happens tonight, just make sure you don’t say a word to anyone about it. There is some kind of ritual that my family performs anytime we have a new person joining the family, it’s not gonna hurt, just a few needle prick and you’ll be fine . I promise “Derrick assured. Sally who looked dumbfounded couldn’t explain what just happened in the last two minutes.” Wait a minute, ritual!!! What ritual are you talking about Derrick!!!” Sally said looking very angry.” Keep your voice down, don’t want anymore drama here please “ Derrick said in a low tone.” I’m leaving this place right now, I’m not going to be part of any ritual, never!!! Sally said as she stood up to get dressed. Suddenly the lights went off, everywhere became dark, dogs began to bark;The lights came on and everywhere was quiet.” Derrick , what is happening, I’m scared” Sally said turning to look at Derrick who was already by the door. “ Put that on” Derrick said pointing to a pair of white pajamas on the bed. She nodded in affirmation with fear.

Mr and Mrs Musk, Derrick’s aunt, his uncle, Mrs Macbeth, and three old women were already sitting round the table. Sally came downstairs with fear and trembling, as she wondered if it was going to be her last words there. She looked round but didn’t see Derrick at the table. They were all smiling at her and gave her a reassuring look.” Derrick would join us soon” Mrs Macbeth said smiling. She sat down and looked at everyone wondering what they had up their sleeves. Mrs Macbeth is Mr Musk’s grandmother and Derrick’s great grandmother,she clocked 120 years during the day she lost her husband. She is believed to have lived so long because she married the clan of her father. It is believed that any member of the family who marries from the clan, will live so long until they are ready to die . And anyone who doesn’t marry from the clan, will have to perform a ritual for longevity. That ritual involved circumcising the genital part of both partners and drinking the blood from it.

The ritual circumcision involved cutting the foreskin of both partners . It also means they have to drink the blood from each other’s private parts. The purpose of doing this is to ensure that the member of the Musk’s family has longevity . The effect on whomever is marrying into the Musk’s family is that , he or she dies when they have s*x with anyone asides the Musk’s. This ritual has been in existence since Mrs Macbeth’s. Mrs Macbeth gave birth to Mr Musk’s father. She still looks like a 50 year old and is still very much agile. She has been the one performing the ritual since Derrick’s great grandfather’s time. Although Derrick’s grandfather also went through the ritual circumcision process. He married a woman from another clan, he never liked the idea of drinking the blood from the circumcision , but tradition had to take its place.

Mr Musk’s father married from another clan and went through the ritual circumcision process also. He loved his wife so much that he’d give the world to see her happy. They gave birth to three children, a boy which is Derrick’s father and two girls . The happy union was cut short , when Mr Musk father caught his wife in a romantic relationship with his house janitor. Mr Musk’s father got so angry at the fact that his wife would stoop so low to have an affair with his janitor. Although his wife never had s*x with him, of course she knew the consequences that followed such act. She only admired him and wished the keep the relationship as friends. Soon his mother started to get tired of seeing the janitor secretly, she filed for a divorce and was willing to take the risks of whatever followed. She loved the janitor that was the most important thing. His father got furious at the news of the divorce, he knew signing the papers would warrant him sharing his properties with her, and no one shares property with the Musk’s. It has never been heard of. Soon he devised a means to put an end to the janitor at all means. He came home one night and caught her in bed with the janitor, before she could say anything he strangled the janitor to death . His wife saw this and tried to run out, he pulled her back and she hit her head on the bed stand accidentally, she died instantly. Seeing this , his father picked his gun and shot himself in the head . He couldn’t stand the chance of living without his dead wife.

While all these happened, there was no witnesses and no one knew what happened to the janitor, and his employers.Mr Musk and his sisters had to leave with his great grandmother, Mrs Macbeth.

Derrick’s father was very careful when choosing whom to marry, he made a promise to his grandmother , Mrs Macbeth to marry from his clan, she didn’t want him to go through what his father went through in his marriage. Derrick’s mother, Mrs Musk is from same clan as Derrick’s father. So their union would be one with longevity. The essence of marrying from same clan is to ensure continuity from both sides and longevity . It is believed that the Musk’s have a wealthy history traced back to the time of their ancestors. The Musk’s believed so much in tradition . Derrick’s mother is from the Macleod’s clan. The Macleod’s clan are believed to be the second richest clan after the Musk’s, so marrying from them would breed more wealth and longevity. The Musk’s and Macleod’s believed in accumulating wealth for their children and their generation. It is believed that the wealth of the Musk’s could feed a nation and still have more to cater for their generation to come.

Sally’s family finished having dinner,” would Sally be back tonight Mum” Robin asked Mrs Harding.She kept mute for a minute “ she said she’ll be back by midnight “ she replied. Mr Harding looked at her feeling so irritated by her response.” Didn’t you ask her to take her time? I wonder what she sees in that boy and his family, the Musk’s are not so good people to tread with” Mr Harding said after a long stare at his wife. “ Derrick seems like a good guy dad, you haven’t met his family before yet you have so much to say about them” Robin said . Mr Harding looked at Robin and shook his head. “ I met with the Musk’s when our corporation wanted to buy shares from their company, their welcome service is terrible .Derrick’s father is so full of himself, I wonder how he treats his wife and kids at home” Mr Harding said looking so angry .” If this is why you hate the Musk’s dad, I think you’re probably jealous you’re not as wealthy as they are” Robin said looking away “Robin!!! apologize to your dad this instant “ Mrs Harding said . Robin apologized and went to his room . “ You know, the kid is right anyways” Mrs Harding said angrily, leaving her husband at the table. Mr Harding muttered some words to himself and went upstairs .

Mrs Macbeth took Sally to a room to prepare her for the rituals which was going to last till daybreak. The process is usually a long one as they have to recite some chants and incantations.The purpose of this was to call on the ancestors to open the doors of continuity of wealth and longevity “It’s only for the good of you both that this ritual is performed , it’s not going to hurt my dear” Mrs Macbeth said patting her back.
