ABROAD

MARGO'S POV

When my flight landed, it was three in the afternoon. I immediately got into my designated car and drove straight to the company.

The board had heard about my return and was waiting for me. Staff were lined up outside the building, waiting just to greet me. I made my way to the shareholders' conference room, and everyone was already sitted, but they all stood up at seeing me.

"Welcome, Mrs Curtis." they all chimed.

"Settle down." I said, gesturing them to sit as I made my way to my chair.

"Today's meeting will be very brief." I said.

"You all know what this is, right?" I said hold out Mateo's ring.

*nodding*

"Yes. We do."

"Good, and you know what it signifies?"

"Yes." they all agreed.

"Good." I replied, then wore the ring on my left thump.

"From now on, I Margo Curtis will be the new CEO of Curtis groups and associations." I said as they all gave a polite nod.

I walked of the company feeling a sense of achievement, as my assistant followed closely behind me. Her name was Katherine, and this was the first time I met her in person. Back at home, Gerrit was mainly my assistant, although that was not really his work, but he did help me out in various ways.

He was more or less like the third in command after Mateo and I. He was general manager at the headquaters and also dealt with the overseeing of financial outcomes of the company.

Although he had control, he didn't have control over Mateo's men. They listened solely to Mateo and I.

I have known Gerrit most of my life and trusted him, which was why I entrusted the company to him after I left.

So now I had to adjust myself to accept the new hands katherine. She looked responsible, sweet, and someone who could be of good company, so I approved of her.

FOUR AND A QUARTER MONTHS LATER.

Months had passed since I arrived here. I was getting used to life here, and everything in the company was going smoothly. My influence had grown, and Katherine had proven her loyalty to some extent.

A few days after arriving, she handed me a contract she drafted herself. The contract was about ownership. It stated that I was her sole owner and that her duty was to serve me and nothing more, and that if she goes contra to serving me and betrays me, I had the right to end her life. She gave me a pen to sign, and so did she, using her blood as a seal. I was pleased at how far she wanted to prove her loyalty.

Now I was at the hospital, and it was ready to give birth. Since Katherine had pledged her loyalty to me, I decided to allow her to stay with me in the ward and watched as I gave birth and if she performed well in the future I could even allow my babies to call her auntie, I was older than her with two years, I was twenty-three so it would be okay

"Katherine, could you get me some water?"

"Yes, Ma'am." She replied.

"I have told you countless times that you could call me Margo, but if it feels too informal, you could call me Miss Margo until you felt like calling me by my name."

"I would stick with Ma'am, Ma'am." She said, making me smile.

"If you keep this up, I might not allow my babies to call you aunt Katherine when they grow up." I teased her.

"Wait, do you really mean it, Ma'am? I mean Miss Margo." She said with much excitement written on her face.

"That's more like it. And yes, I want you to be their auntie." I said.

"Ugh, Katherine?" I called out.

"Yes, Miss Margo."

"Go get the nurses, them it's here." I said as let out a loud scream.

She ran out the door and yelled.

"I need a nurse here. The patient is in labour, please."

Since I was already in my ward and was in position, the doctor did some checks and asked me to get ready to push.

It took me about thirty minutes to push out the two babies when Katherine had the cries she was so elated.

She was the first to see them. She took the first girl and placed her on my chest. I was so happy when I saw her, the second girl looked so much like her elder sister.

"What do you want to call them?" Katherine asked.

"I will call the older one, Daphne, and her sister Layla."

"Ma'am, please can you hand them over, we have to do some checkups to see if they are perfectly okay." A nurse said to me.

"Sure thing." I said, handing her the babies.

"Katherine, could you do me a favour and go with the nurse?" I asked.

"There is no need for that Ma'am. It won't take very long.

"Okay." I replied.

"You can stay here and keep the patient company." The nurse said to Katherine.

After some time, they babies were brought back.

"Ma'am here are your girls they are perfectly healthy and alright, and they need sufficient food and sleep." The nurse remarked.

"I will leave you to it now. When you are done, you can ring the bell, and I'll assign someone to take them to their nursery." She added.

"Thank you." I muttered.

"No problem, it's my job." She said as she walked out.

It had been a couple of hours since I gave birth, and Katherine was working on the discharge processes.

"Miss Margo just needs to handle some paperwork, and we are good to go." Katherine told me.

"Great. Help me get the kids."

"Yes, I'm on it." She said happily.

It had been five minutes since Katherine left to get the kids. I was staring to get concerned. The nursery was on the floor right above mine, what was taking her so long.

Not long before my thought landed, she rushed into my ward breathless and freaked out.

"Ma'am there is a problem." She said.

"What is it?" I asked frantically.

"The girls..." she said as the words hooked Helen throat.

"They are missing." The words dropped.

"I have enabled the search team...."

After that, I lost consciousness.
