Chapter Four

1067 Words
Mallory’s POV If living with the Cassidy family is hell, then being in school is no different. After they found out that I was the daughter of the infamous rogues, my classmates won’t have second thoughts of giving me a hard time. Courtesy of the Cassidy twins, of course. During their prime in high school, their status exposed me as their family jester and since then, I’ve been constantly being bullied and the center of their insults. So I resigned myself to embrace a life in high school full of drama. “Oh the jinx is in school?!” Drake catches me in the hallway with his disgusted look. “You shouldn’t be here or else your misfortune will affect—” Before he says another word, I immediately kick his shin—REAL.HARD. The pain catches him off-guard, making him lose his balance and drop with a painful thud on the ground. “LIKE HELL I WOULD BE EVERYONE’S JESTER!” Oops, I think I said it out loud. “Oww, you little s**t!” He groans in pain as he holds his leg. “You couldn’t do that to an athlete in the swimming team!” “Yeah, so? What’s it got to do with me?” I roll my eyes as I playfully kick his already aching leg. “Or what? Run to your teammates for back-up to beat my sorry ass up?” “You pay for this, b***h! You hear me! Don’t you dare make the swimming team your enemy!” Whine, whine, whine. That’s what all these stupid jocks do when I decide to fight back. Instead, I just thrust him with my favorite, trusty middle finger as my response. Then, I start walking away. “Hey, c-come back so I can beat you up!” He must be humiliated as his words don't pose a threat to me at all. “That’s what the villains in Scooby Doo all say,” I mutter, coolly as I roll my eyes with disapproval. “Yet, they are continuously being ridiculed by a bunch of kids and a talking dog.” Feeling a bit triumphant, I want to give myself a high five for acting cool in these rare moments. But at the same time, I know the consequences of my actions. They meant it when they swear to attack me when I’m defenseless. If I can’t fight back against the Cassidy family, I might as well vent it out here in school. And thanks to those assholes, the school bullies thought they did them a favor by tormenting me after their graduation. So, everything I did was just for self-defense, really. Honestly, my actions often lead me to trouble. There was one time that I was caught by the jocks and boy, that wasn’t pretty. Thankfully, the janitor was nearby so I managed to get away scratch-free. But since then, the bullies try to find another opportunity to isolate me and they can finally teach me a lesson. And there is no way I’ll succumb to their childish antics. But I know that once most of these jocks are going to get their wolves, it won’t be easy for me. So, for the time being, I am willing to rely on my luck and my awareness. Luckily, my birthday is at the earliest before any of the bullies, so I can finally awaken my wolf. Just one more day and I’ll be reaching eighteen. Even if I am the omega of the pack, I won’t let my pride be tarnished by mere bullying. I have nothing to lose since I won’t be seeing them after graduation. Yeah, I am sure I’ll have a bright future ahead of me as soon as I leave this f*****g damn school. ‘Stop thinking about f**k-up things and focus on your main objective: Nigel Tylers,’ I thought. I want to see him even if I become too needy for his attention to the extent he would be annoyed at me, I don’t give a f*****g damn. All I care about is to be with Nigel Tylers. Yes, Nigel, the star captain of the tennis club. The most attractive beta I’ve ever seen. Not to mention, he was the first one who approached me despite our ranks. At first, I thought it was just his way of courtesy, but the more he involves himself with me, I’ve put two and two together that he was actually in the process of asking me out. It didn’t take long before we started dating. He also happened to have his birthday during summer break. It was two months ago on his birthday during the full moon, I was there by his side as he slowly morphed in his wolf form. The gentleman he is, even struggling to fight his own wolf to mate me, he stopped himself. Promising me that we will both mark ourselves as fated mates as soon as I reach eighteen. A promise that we both vow to happen. A promise that I couldn’t wait to live the rest of my life with Nigel Tylers. When I reach the tennis court, I see the members of the club gathering with their coach as he does the final roll call. I catch sight of their coach looking at Nigel’s direction and wave his hand to come forward. Nigel, being the obedient star player, walks next to the coach with confident strides. And their coach inaudibly says something good because next thing I know, the students start cheering out loud. I gave a faint smile for the first time today and I know that Nigel probably did something to make their team proud. Despite the loud roars of applause, Nigel’s eyes wander until it set on mine, noticing me even if I was at the farthest distance of the tennis court. His eyes widen with my surprise visit before his lips curve to form his trademark toothy grin. Ah, he’s f*****g handsome even if his grins are too goofy for my liking. But his bright personality brings out the light to the darkness of my life and I couldn’t be more proud to have him as mine. I can’t wait to embrace him. With that thought, seeing my boyfriend, brimming with pride and happiness for the news he couldn’t wait to tell me— —he deserves some reward.
