ENDLESS STRUGGLES

The evening sun cast long shadows on the ground. The slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange tinge to the sky.The night sky was aglow with bright city lights. It has been two years ever since Zacky lost his parents. Due to the huge debt burden that his parents left behind the bank auctioned their land and the small muddy house. His sister Zahra got lost, he tried to look for her everywhere but couldn't trace her. Zacky met Tony who was on a journey to Congo, the country is known of its vast gold supply. Tony convinced him, they followed a white rich man who was their boss in this journey. Two years have passed ever since then, Zacky and Tony are back to the country. "It's been long ever since i saw my sister.." Zacky said to Tony. " Am sure fate will bring you together." Tony responded. " Do you believe there is something like fate in this world?" Zacky asked. " Off course Zacky, just never give up." Answered Tony. They walked down the street. The city was a living machine spread over once green land like a microchip grossly enlarged. The roads run in their predictable grid pattern and the lights of the stores, restaurants and places of vice shine neon into the night. Everything was out there from homely organic granola to girls that will make you pray in entirely new ways. Down the street there was a large tree where under it there was a bench. Zacky noticed that someone was sleeping on the bench. "Hey Tony why not rest under that tree?" He asked. "Sure, why not am very tired." Tony said. The two friends walked to the tree. Zacky was Tall and fairly skinny. His hair was curly. He was in a black ragged jeans and a green pullover. He was carrying a blue back pack. Inside the back pack was a gray khaki trouser and a maroon t-shirt. There was also a novel inside the back pack. Tony was a mascular dark man. He was in a yellow t-shirt and a red trouser. With him was a sack, the sack actually carried all of his belongings, in it was a green trouser and a blue shirt. The two were very tired. They both lied on the bench trying to squeeze themselves in order not to disturb the person next to them. The two seemed to be tired. After some few second they were half dead. The just-risen sun shone softly on the city streets, bringing with it a flurry of early-morning activity. "Hey, homeless people wake up!" A man holding a broom in his right hand pulled the three of them. "What do you mean, its dawn?" Asked the guy sleeping on the bench. "What do you think you little brat just wake up get yourself a job and atleast the next time you won't sleep here." Said the man with a broom. To avoid further embarrassment the guy stood up and left. "Now i got a friend round here we got to go look for him." Said Tony. "It's alright atleast we get some roof over our head for couple of days it maybe better." Said Zacky. The man with the broom laughed as he looked at them. 'Hmm i wonder why lazy people Keep increasing everyday... Look now they are all homeless, he used to be alone now they are three.' The man with the broom said to himself. Both Zacky and Tony walked down the street to the Billy's apartments. At the entry was a security guard who blocked the two from entering into the building. "Where do you think you are going?" He said this standing right in front of them. "Am actually visiting my friend.." Tony said. "Who is your friend?" He asked harshly. "Jerry, he rents room number seventy six can i see him sir?" Tony asked. "Unfortunately there is nobody like that here." He started pushing them away. "You stop!" A female voice was heard from the other side. " Ooh madam Quinn these individuals are here to disturb the peace of our esteemed tenants." Said the security man. " Hey Tony am sorry for the inconveniences, he is new here how may i help you?" Asked miss Quinn. " Actually i was looking for Jerry." He said. "Ooh am sorry but Jerry shifted from this place, it's been eight months since i last saw him." She said "Whaat?" Tony was surprised. "Yes Tony that's what happened." " Do you by chance know of where he moved to?" He asked. " Not at all you know they normally not tell us where they move to." She said. "Boom we are f****d up." Zacky found himself spitting out the words. Shots of tears in his eyes could be sighted at far. " Just don't give up so easily mate." Tony comforted his friend. "You can just call him." She said. "Do you have his number?" Tony asked. "It has been long but let me check then will get back to you." Miss Quinn said as she left. Tony nodded, his heart was beating faster he started praying in his spiritual soul. "Do you think she will get the number?" Zacky asked. "Definitely Zacky she will," he said. "What if Jerry has already moved out of the town?" He asked again. "Just don't give up." Tony replied. "Ok sure." He said. After seven minutes, miss Quinn was back holding a piece of paper with some numbers written on it. "Here you go," she handed Tony the piece of paper as she continued, " but i have tried reaching him out but the call couldn't go through, actually i have left a message for him that you are looking for him, hope he will receive it." "Ok miss Quinn, we will leave you guys have a better day." Tony said. The two left the gates of Billy apartment. "I am hungry" Zack said. "We still got some pennies left with us we are actually going to get food in about half an hour." Tony said.
