"I was beginning to wonder if you ladies would ever come out." He said with a light laugh and pulled me into his arms.
"Sorry for making you wait. Our dresses will be delivered this evening and just in time for the ball." I told him.
"That is great. Does this mean that we can finally go back to the castle?" He asked.
"Of course my mate," I said with a smile and then I realized Armelle had already started back toward the castle.
"I guess she is ready to get back." Dragon laughed.
I laughed at his comment but followed him as started toward the castle. I wonder if Alvar was just nervous at finding his mate and at the fact that he imprinted on her, well she imprinted on him but I know that he imprinted as well. It's a mutual connection between two mated fairies that are destined to be together. I slowly walked beside Dragon with my arm linked to his and he just guided my movements as we strolled through the town. I would catch him staring at me now and then and he would just grin at me with that knowing smile of his.
I wondered what the ball would hold for us tonight, we were after all announcing our engagement to the people. The Princess would also announce her engagement to Dragon's brother and Princess Alavina was the one who suggested the ball after all. I just hope the maids can get everything ready in time, yes they can use magic to get everything prepared but it does still take time. I let out a small sigh and this caused Dragon to stop and look at me with concern.
"Are you okay, my love?" Dragon asked.
"Yes I am fine, I was just thinking about the ball tonight," I replied looking at him.
"Are you concerned about what the people might say?" He asked.
"Yes and no. I know how some people can be and some women want to be with you and I know that they will object to the idea of us getting married." I said looking away.
Dragon grabbed my chin gently and pulled me into a passionate kiss, and I knew this was his answer. I would never get tired of his kisses and the way that they made me feel. His hand left my chin and wrapped around my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer to me. We were in public but that didn't seem to bother him one bit. His hand trailed down further causing me to moan and him to pause his actions and look down at me.
"Remember that you belong to me and no one will change that. Also, I am sorry I didn't mean to go so far." Dragon said bringing a blush to my face as he drew circles on my lower back and I couldn't help the sigh that left my lips.
"I am yours completely and you are right nothing will change that. You didn't go too far, but we should head back to the castle it seems Armelle left without us." I smiled up at him.
"Yes, you are right my dear. Regardless of what someone might say tonight at the ball, we will be announcing our engagement and later getting married." Dragon said with a smile.
I took his arm once again and we made our way to the castle. While walking I noticed that some of the town folk were looking at us like we had done something wrong. I started to worry but Dragon pulled me closer to him, as if reading my mind, to comfort me and let me know that it was okay. The walk to the castle was a short one and the moment we made it through the door we were separated by maids and butlers and dragged to our rooms.
"My word Ember you couldn't take any longer could you?" My maid Malena said with a sigh sitting me down in the chair in front of the mirror.
"I am sorry, but it was partly Dragon's fault," I said with a blush, not many of the maids knew of the engagement yet.
"Now miss don't go blaming the prince, you are both at fault." she chuckled, she was one of the ones that knew.
"It was his fault, he is the one who decided that he needed to kiss me in public," I said with a laugh while she fixed my hair into an elaborate updo.
"The Prince should not have done that." She said as she applied makeup.
"We are imprinted mates, so it isn't uncommon for him to kiss me," I commented with a blush.
"I had no idea that the two of you were imprinted mates. Does anyone else know about this?" She asked me.
"Not at the moment, but Dragon intends to announce our engagement tonight. I am a bit nervous." I said looking down.
"You have nothing to worry about my dear." She said.
She stood me up and we walked over to the bed where she helped me into the gown that I would be wearing that evening. I sure hoped that Dragon liked the dress that I picked out. I wanted to look perfect for him and look the part for the people. Once I was in my gown she helped me get my heels on. I looked in the mirror and I did look amazing. My makeup consisted of red and gold eyeshadow with a smokey look. I had on deep red lipstick with a hint of gold in it. I had a simple pink blush to accent my cheekbones and of course the m******e and the eyeliner. I looked amazing, to be honest. Malena really could work wonders with a brush.
"You look beautiful and the prince will think so as well." She said with a wide grin.
"I just hope that he knows what he is doing, I am after all just a warrior. I am no noble and I don't want anyone to look down on him for his choice." I said to her.
"People may disapprove of his choice but they have no right to. The king has given his blessing many times over, you know that." Malena said.
"Thank you very much," I said to her with I smile.
"It is no problem my lady, now let's get you down to the ball so that they can announce the two of you," Melena said.
"Alright," I said to her with a smile.
As I let Melena guide me down the hall hall I got a glimpse of Dragon who dressed very similar to me and I could not wait to be near him and have him hold me close. We neared the Balcony of the ballroom and my nerves shot through the roof they announced us first to everyone and then to the other princes and princesses who had arrived. My only hope was that Armelle had finally been able to meet with her imprinted mate and things would work out for them. The guard to the side announced us.
"I announce your Prince Dragon and his imprinted mate Ember and his soon-to-be bride and Queen." The guard said and I blushed and Dragon pulled me closer.
"Don't worry, no one will say anything to you," Dragon whispered into my ear.
We glided down the steps with ease and I watched with worry as some people would stare at me, a lot were glares from women who wanted Dragon for themselves. Every person received a glare from him that could kill and I could not help the smile that had formed on me at the thought of how protective he had become of me. He had always been protective but after accepting him it intensified. I watched as the guard announced more and more people and then saw Alvar come out and on his arm was Adrianna. I was shocked but thrilled.
"I am proud to announce Prince Alvar and his imprinted Mate and soon-to-be bride and Queen Armelle." He bowed to them and they descended the stairs and made their way over to us with ease.
"I have to thank you, old friend," Alvar said.
"Whatever for?" Dragon questioned with a laugh.
"Had you not told me Armelle was my mate and that she had imprinted on me then I would have never known about her. She is shy, but she is certainly mine." He said and smiled down at her and she blushed and looked at me and I grinned at her.
"So when is your wedding?" I asked looking at Alvar.
"I could ask you the same thing." He chuckled.
"I don't think that we have decided on a date quite yet, but we are working on it," Dragon said and put his arm around my waist his arm was lower than normal and I blushed from the contact.
"I think that we are in the same boat here. We need to decide on a date so the girls can attend each other's wedding." Alvar said and wrapped his arm around Armelle in the same manner Dragon had with me and it had her blushing madly.
"I honestly think that would be a great idea and that would keep the pressure limited as well. My dear mate is new to this and has only just accepted me and I am sure yours is in the same boat, so taking things slow is our best bet." Dragon commented and leaned down and kissed me and the cheek.
"I Could never thank you enough though old friend, it is all thanks to you that I was able to find my mate and be with her," Alvar said
"As I have said many times it was no trouble, now I think that our mates would love to have a dance with their mates." Dragon chuckled.
Dragon guided me out onto the floor where we danced and danced. It seemed like the night continued forever, but I never wanted the night to stop. I could see Armelle in the corner of my eye grinning ear to ear at something that Alvar had said to her and then he leaned in and kissed her. I looked at my dear dragon who had lust in his and he leaned and pressed his warm and soft lips against mine and fireworks exploded. I loved the feeling of him kissing me and I never wanted this moment to end. His arms around me held me tight and I wanted nothing more than to be alone with him to complete the mating, and he felt this because when I pulled away his eyes had darkened, but he refrained.
"Another time my dear," Dragon said.
The night ended too soon for my taste and Melena dragged me back to my room to help me change I was so upset that my time with Dragon had ended. I knew that Armelle would be moving to Alvar's kingdom once she had married him, but that was a ways away. I took my bath and when I was dressed for bed I blew out my candle and fell into a blissful forgetting any worries that I may have. Forgetting that the dark elves were still after the stone and the fairy world was at stake.
