Chapter 8 : Dragon's First Love

(Ember's POV)

That night I struggled to sleep and at some point, Dragon had come to my room and slipped under the covers to comfort me. We both knew that it was not allowed but neither of us cared. What mattered was that we were together even if it was for a brief time. I do not know what I ever spent so much time denying the bond that we shared, we were meant for each other. However, that feeling of something bad coming seemed to ebb in my mind and made me worry. His mother scared me because she was evil and could return at any time and try to kill him again or worse take what's important from him and I would not let her do that. I was a warrior before anything and I would protect him and this kingdom. When I awoke in the morning he was gone but there was a note on his pillow.

My Dearest Ember,

I wish that I could have stayed longer but as you know my father would not approve of us being in the same room. I had some important matters that I needed to attend to and I know that you are tired after everything that has been going on. Please take the day off and come find me if you need anything. Please get a decent breakfast in today.

Dragon

I got out of the bed and got dressed in my warrior outfit like normal and decided that I wanted to go look for Dragon. I would think that he would want to talk about our plans for the future. I made my way through the halls trying to locate him, I looked every but his room. I had looked in the throne room, in the dinning hall, in the kitchen. I knocked on the bathroom doors, even though he had his own, I checked the closets, I checked the living area, the game room, and lastly I checked the empty rooms. I finally decided that I would check his room, he may have decided to go get some more rest before getting what he needed done, done. I arrived to his room and the door was cracked and heard voices, his voice and the voice of a female. I peeked in, even though I knew that is was wrong to eves drop and would most like hurt me, but I had to know what was so important for him to be hiding in his room with another female.

When I looked in the room and saw Dragon with his first love Armela, the princess from a neighboring kingdom who was I guess here to visit. It was a well known in the kingdom that he loved Armela for years and then she suddenly broke things off and refused to give a reason and now she was back. It was also known that she married another mand for the sake of her family and we suspect that was the reason she left, but she continues to deny it and always said that she lost interest in Dragon. She had her hands all over him and was kissing him. Nothing could explain the pain that I felt in that moment. I felt darkness consume every part of my heart and I fell into a pit of despair, but I refused to cry. In that moment I incased my heart with ice and vowed to never love anyone ever again. I would rather die than let Dragon claim me as imprinted mate. Every word was a lie and betrayal to my heart. How could he do this to me after trying so hard to get me to accept the imprint that we had on each other. He promised to never hurt me in any way, but here he was in the arms of the first woman that he ever loved and is kissing her. I backed up and hit a vase which smashed to the ground. Dragon's head shoot this direction and as soon as he saw me his filled with sorrow. He promised, but he broke that and I would never trust him again. I turned and ran from him with yelling for me to back.

"Ember comeback, I can explain everything that is going on!" He pleaded as he finally caught up to me and grabbed my arm.

"I don't want to talk to you or see you ever again. I'm done with anything that involves you." I yelled at him and seen Armela smirking at me.

"You and Armela have a good life together. I hope you two have a good life, just don't include me. I never want see you again, you hear me?" I ground out.

"Please I am your mate. We imprinted we will die without each other." Dragon pleaded and I saw Armela's eyes widen in shock.

"I am not going to let you cheat on me whenever you please and be okay with it?" I asked him trying to stay calm.

"I must interject...." Armela started but I cut her off.

"I don't think anything that comes from your mouth will help." I ground out.

"I think that it will." she stated.

"Fine I will hear what you have to say just this one time and it better be good." I sighed.

"I used a love potion on him. I just wanted one moment with him because I missed him. I was forced into my marriage and forced to leave Dragon's side." We both looked wide eyed, but she wasn't finished. "Yes I did come here to break things up between because I still love him, but I am married and it would never work. I just wanted a moment with him. My specialty is love potions and I used the strongest one I have for him, I just didn't take into account that he had imprinted on you. I am sorry, if I had known I would have never interfered with the two of you since it is forbidden to break imprinted mates up." She finished and produced the remaining potion and I yanked it from her hand and tossed it to the floor shattering the glass vail.

"If you ever touch him again or so much look his direction I will rip your eyes out and feed you to wolves." l ground out.

"Ember take it easy, murder is illegal and you know that." Dragon said and I sighed knowing that he was right.

"Whatever. I'm sure the king wouldn't mind if I decided to banish her from this kingdom, now would he?" I asked him.

"Let it go Ember, she said she would never do it again and if she does I will be the one to banish her." Dragon said pulling me into his arms.

"I think that it's best you leave while you can." Dragon said to her in a rough voice.

"I'm sorry." was all she said before she disappeared.

"Bitch." I growled.

"I know you are my mate and all but you can't go around threatening a Princess. Your lucky she is so understanding." Dragon chuckled pulling away.

"Still mad at you, how could you fall for such a stupid trick?" I asked him.

"She came to talk and offered me a drink. I didn't think that she would try anything because I thought it was well known that I had a mate. I guess she didn't get the memo." He said.

"I will never trust her again after this." I said to him.

"I know dear." He said.

He leaned down and pressed his lips to mine in heated kiss. My arms wrapped around his neck in an attempt to pull myself closer to him. The sparks that I felt every time we touched would never get old and always love how they make me feel. Dragon pushed me against the nearest wall and kissed me harder and his lips left mine and began wondering down my neck. I was in pure bliss till some cleared their throat.

"I am I interrupting anything?" The king asked looking away.

"Oh, my god." I said and turned beat red realizing we got caught red handed.

"Don't mind me, I just want to see my son. You can him back in a little bit." He chuckled. "Young love." He said.

"I will see you this afternoon, my love." Dragon said and kissed my forehead.
