Chapter 2 : His Story

1596 Words
"Shortly after my father became King, he fell in love and not with just any woman, a beautiful peasant girl. She had gorgeous blue eyes and black hair. Very busty for a woman of her stature. My dad fell in love immediately and the woman was perfect. She was raised by a great family and they were proud when she became the wife of my father, and the new Queen. After giving birth to me, my father said something in her began to change, almost like she was becoming dark. No one could quite figure out what was going on. Time had progressed and the servants and my father would see less and less of her, it was almost like she was living a double life. I was three when it happened. It was the day after my birthday, and everything was peaceful, and everyone was in bed and then my father yelled. When I made it to his room, I learned my mother had tried to kill my father to get the stone and his throne. She wanted to rule and turn all good fairies dark." He had stopped for a minute and I thought for sure that he wasn't going to tell me anymore, but he took and deep breath and continued. "I wasn't till later that I learned that she had been practicing the dark magic and had been paid to follow the dark side, but first she would have to kill her husband and son, before they could fully accept her. After that day I hated my mother, if she had killed my father, then I would have been next. They changed her to the dark side, and I don't know how they did it." Dragon said, finishing up his story. "So, your mother is still alive?" I asked. "I don't know after that night I never saw or heard anything else about my mother. I just hope I don't turn evil like my grandfather did." Dragon said. "You won't turn evil. You were born good and given your own choices. You have chosen to be a good person. You won't turn evil." Dragon didn't say anything, just stared into space. I touched his shoulder lightly and he looked at me with compassion in his eyes. This man could never be evil, there was too much good in him for that. At this point in time I saw a man who didn't want championship, he just wanted someone to love him and to be loved in return. All I could see in him was a man who was lonely. He put a gentle understanding hand on my check and against my own will I leaned into his hand. I felt warmth and strength, from just this small touch. It was all interrupted when FoxFlame came through the door and as quick as Dragon had put his hand on my face, he moved it. How I missed his touch already. I don't know what was causing me to feel this way, but I was feeling them and didn't mind them. I looked at FoxFlame only to see Korean takeout in his hands, but the look on his face said that he was angry about something. "Here is dinner, I already ate." He said and sat down in the recliner and turned on the television. Dragon and I ate in peace and then he got up and left, he said that he had to meet up with his father. "What is the matter Fox, you are never this angry?" I asked. "You are leading him on. No wonder he is constantly chasing after, he has the impression that you are into him. You're doing him wrong, now I am only going to say this once, either go out with him and be his queen or leave him alone." FoxFlame said. "Fox it isn't that easy. I have feelings for him, but I don't want to tell him when he can marry someone of royal blood. He can do some much better than me and besides I can find someone else." I replied. "Ember in this world, if you want something you got to take it and run. I know you want Dragon, but stalling is not going to do you any good." FoxFlame said. "What you don't understand, is that I have imprinted on him, and I know what will happen if I don't choose to be with him." I said. "Ember this is serious, if you know for sure that you have imprinted, then you need to be with him. I mean you could potentially die if you continue to refuse your feelings for him." Fox Flame said. "It really isn't that simple Fox. I can't let him imprint on me to. He needs to marry someone of royal blood and keep his linage pure. Someone like me shouldn't be with him." Ember said. "And do I get any say in this?" I looked up to see Dragon standing in the door and he looked furious. "No, you don't. You don't need to suffer because of me." Ember said. "I think this is my cue to step out." Fox said and was gone before I could say anything to stop him. "I never asked you to make that decision for me. I have a mind of my own you know." Dragon said, having calmed down a little. "I am not going to be the reason that you don't marry someone of royal blood." I told him, hoping that he would let this go. "You imprinted on me and that can't be changed. We were meant to be together." Dragon said and I could see the pleading look in his eyes. "What would the people of the Kingdom say? They would think you were just like your father." I asked him and I could see the pained look in his eyes. "I don't care what others say. We were destined to be together and I wouldn't have it any other way." Dragon said and stepped forward. "I am telling you that there is a mistake. We can't be together. I won't let you drag yourself down to my rank and be a laughing stalk. You are so much better than that. You have always been a kind prince." I whispered with a sad smile. "You don't seem to understand, do you?" He asked and he had tears in his eyes. "What are you talking about Dragon?" I questioned. "Since the moment that I saw you I imprinted. We were destined to be together from the very start." Dragon said and pulled me into a hug. "I can't." I said. "Stop fighting what you know is right." Dragon smiled at me. For the first time I felt that being in his arms was right. We had known each other so long that fighting what was destiny seemed like too much effort and I knew it was time to give in and be with the man I knew I loved. FoxFlame was right, I was supposed to be with Dragon and I know that his father would approve. I looked up at Dragon and smiled as his lips made contact with mine in a sweet but passionate kiss that I had dreaming about for a while now. It was everything that I had hoped it would be and more. I pulled from the kiss and smiled at him and he grinned from ear to ear. I knew that denying him futher would only result in pain. If this journey has taught me anything, it is that I need to stop denying my feelings and give into the things that I want and I knew that I wanted to be with Dragon. The thing was the king has given his blessing for us to be together and there was need to be reserved anymore. Yes, he had a duty to his kingdom, but he had assured me that I was the one that he wanted and that he didn't care what others thought. "Does this mean that you finally accept me as your mate?" Dragon asked. "Yes, it does, I am done running from my feelings. I want to be with you regardless of what may happen." I replied with a smile. "Good, as soon as we get back, we are completing the mating process along with getting married. I love you my little queen." He said. "I am not a queen just yet." I laughed. "Oh, hush and kiss me." He said. He pulled me into a kiss that I loved more than anything. I could feel the connection that we shared in this very kiss and a flood of emotions surged through me and I was startled by the sensation and pulled away. He leaned his head against my forehead and with tinder kiss on the lips he pulled away and smiled. "That is the kiss that mates share, and it is amazing and incredible." He smiled. "I love you Dragon and I wished that I had accepted you sooner rather than later." I said. "All that matters are that you accepted me." He said. With that he pulled me to him, and we collapsed on the couch. I am sure FoxFlame will be out for a while, and I am glad that he chooses to leave. We remained in each other's arms and kissing. Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep in his arms and I could the quiet snore signifying that he had fallen asleep and a blanket was draped over us.
