The Lone Wolf

Chapter 4

I woke up to a rude awakening from someone pounding on my door. It was 9am and I definitely slept in, I must have been exhausted from the move. I get up and slip on my slippers and look through the peek hole. It was Noel.

Abby: "Hey"

Noel: "Hey, how are you? I just wanted to apologize for how I stormed off last night, Pat kinda pissed me off"

Abby: "It's not a problem really, are you ok? Do you want to talk about it? "

Noel: "Maybe later, I was wondering if you want to go to Anne's coffee shop with me? It's a few blocks down. "

Abby: "I would but I kinda need to shower and change my clothes, I look like a mess right-" Noel cuts me off.

Noel: "Nah, you look beautiful, let's go get a cup of coffee on me and wake yourself up?"

Abby: "Alright fine, let's go." My checks felt really warm and I couldn't hide it. Noel didn't help he just laughed.

I insisted on driving, but Noel wanted to walk, it was beautiful out anyways so why. He was being a complete gentleman, he made sure I was on the right side of the road. There's just something about him, with the little bit of time that I've known him, I can't pin point it out, he's just so sweet to me. Ten minutes later we reached the Anne's Cafe, and being the gentleman that he is, he held the door open for me.

I ordered a non fat vanilla latte, I pulled out my wallet and he pushed my hand away. He ordered himself an Americano with cream and paid in cash. The lady of course couldn't keep her eyes off of him.

Noel: "When do you start school?"

Abby: "Wednesday, are you attending school as well?"

Noel: "I actually just finished school."

Abby: "Oh sweet, what's your major?"

Noel: "EMS, Paramedic and Firefighter, what about you?"

Abby: "Um I actually haven't decided yet, but was thinking about becoming a therapist, a behavioral consultant."

Noel: "Interesting, any reason?"

Abby: "I guess I want to help people, like you. Instead of Frontline emergency, it's more with mental illnesses."

Noel: "Any other major besides that one? "

Abby: "I love writing, is there something wrong with being a therapist?"

Noel: "No, it'll suit you, you said you were thinking about it, and I was curious about what else you were thinking of."

Abby: "So speaking of, therapist wise, did you want to talk about why you are so angry with Pat? I promise I am a good listener."

I leaned over and touched Noel's arm, his arm felt like it was almost too hot to touch. I looked up at him and his eyes were dark almost black. He had sweat coming down the sides of his face. I quickly jumped up and told him that I would talk to him later and walked fast as I could out of the shop. It was scary, it's like he had changed to a whole new person. He told me to wait, but it was too much. I quickly walked down the sidewalk, there was this trail that went into the woods it was like a bike trail for hikers. I decided to go on the trail, maybe it was a shortcut to my apartment.

I walked on the trail, it was definitely longer than 10mins, and I didn't know where I was at I tried walking back and I kept going in circles. The only thing different I came acrossed, was a river. I definitely was far from my apartment. My heart started racing and I could feel myself start to hyperventilate. I reached in my pocket to look for my phone, and I realized that I left my phone at the Cafe, I was lost and didn't have my phone, fantastic. I heard branches snapping and looked around me, maybe it was Noel? I didn't see anyone and crouched down in the grass trying to see what the noise was. I could hear yelling in the distance it sounded like Noel and another person, I couldn't identify the voice.

Sawyer: "What the hell is with you, if she finds out who you are this could be a problem for all of us!"

Noel: "I know that! Pat pissed me off telling people who barely even know me about my parents."

I started thinking back to last night, when Pat told us about his parents. There was no way that Noel could hear him. He was too far away.

Sawyer: "Your dad is worthless anyway, and you're going to be just like him!"

I could tell that Noel was pissed off at whoever this person was, the guy started pushing Noel. Noel started puffing his chest, and started growling, it was Weird. What was going on. His whole body shifted into a large black wolf. I was terrified and I slowly backed up trying not to make too much movement. The other guy also shifted his body into a wolf, his was dark brown and had some gray. I was more than terrified now, I backed up on my hands and feet and accidentally stepped on a branch. They both looked at me and I started running as fast as I could and I could hear them both growling, I knew they both behind me. I'm definitely going to die. I looked behind me as I continued running, and without paying attention I tripped over the rocks that were underneath my feet and fell into the river.

Everything I tried to hold on to slipped from my hands, the current was too strong and it kept pulling me under. This would be better than being shredded to pieces I guess. I can't believe that this was real. I seen Noel's wolf running still, but I couldn't see the other one, he was following the current. I got pulled back under and I couldn't pull myself back up, then everything went black.

Noel

I found Sawyer in the woods. Probably hunting, I was trying to find Abby. I guess I scared her pretty bad, I guess I was still pretty pissed off at Pat. I'm not exactly sure where Abby went, but she was gone when I came out from the Cafe and I hope to God she didn't take those woods. There's a pack of Wolves in there trying to hunt and don't need to be seen.

Sawyer: "Noel, what are you doing out here?"

Noel: "I'm trying to find someone."

Sawyer: "Oh that little girlfriend of yours that everyone was talking about this morning?"

Noel: "How do you know about her?"

Sawyer: "She was the talk all this morning when you walked her to the little Cafe, I could feel your emotions radiating off of you."

Noel: "I was still pissed off last night and I was trying to hold everything back and my body kinda shut down when I was talking to her it scared her, she took off."

Sawyer: "What the hell is with you, if she finds out who you are this could be a problem for all of us!"

Noel: "I know that! Pat pissed me off telling people who barely even know me about my parents."

Sawyer: "Your dad is worthless anyway, and you're going to be just like him!"

Sawyer started pushing me, and I knew it was on purpose, he wanted to fight and I was going to fight. I changed into my wolf and then Sawyer changed into his. We both hurt branches snapping, and looked into the direction. It was Abby! She took off running. She definitely just seen all that happened that poor girl was probably terrified.

Sawyer linked over to me.

Sawyer: "Ugh great, let's go get her. Try and calm her down."

Noel: "You're f*****g fault Sawyer."

Sawyer: "I didn't know she was out here, I was trying to test you, trying to see if you had your anger under control yet but apparently not."

Noel: "I told you, I was looking for HER."

Sawyer: "She's going under Noel! Get her."

I looked over, sure enough she fell in the river, she couldn't keep her head up the current was too strong. I kept up with the pace of the current, to make sure I could jump in at the right time. Her head went under again but, wasn't coming back up. I linked to Sawyer to help. We both jumped in, I couldn't see her, but I could smell blood. This wasn't good.

Sawyer: "Over here, Noel."

Sawyer found Abby, he got her before she went down river anymore, he was back into his human body, he started doing CPR on Abby.

Noel: "Is she not breathing!?"

Sawyer: "She's got a weak pulse, I can hear water in her lungs, she's definitely not breathing though. She's got a small cut on her head too."

I rushed over as quickly as I could, Sawyer was definitely right, She had a lot of water that came up out of her lungs.

Sawyer: "She should be ok, but I would definitely get her checked out, make sure she doesn't have a concussion. We heal faster than humans, just tell the ER you guys were on a hike and she fell in."

Noel: "Thanks, Sawy."

Sawyer: "We will talk tomorrow."
