Silence reigned for the first hand that the ladies played. Even Lydia appreciated the quiet and found it peaceful after all the excitement. During the second hand, Lady Norman said casually, “I have to say I am rather relieved that Warwick has proposed to Tina and that’s all squared away.” She smiled at the duchess who was sitting across from her. “It is all thanks to you, Your Grace.”
