Chapter Twenty-One He was shown into Lord Daniel’s study in the back of the house. It was a bright room, gathering the afternoon sun on a large mahogany table in the center of the room. Books of all sorts and sizes covered the table, along with a pile of paper and an ink stand. It must all have to do with Lord Daniel’s work, John thought before his attention was grabbed by the man himself, who was standing by a smaller desk set under the window. It too was covered in books and papers. John figured he’d better keep this short. Clearly, Lord Daniel was very busy.
