“f**k…” I moaned, thrusting my hip as I felt my orgasm close, but just when it was about to hit me, Kai stopped.

I whimpered in frustration and was about to lash out when he clashed his lips against mine, making me taste myself.

He pulled away with a smirk. His eyes still filled with lust as he whispered, “The next time you lie to me, princess, I will be taking more than an orgasm from you.”

“I hate you.” I spat, but I knew it wasn't true because whatever I felt for Kai Falcone was far from hatred.

….

When her daughter fell ill and in need of a bone marrow transplant, Scarlet went in search of Kai Falcone, the man whom she had spent a passionate night with four years ago and also, the father of her child.

Unfortunately, she was not expecting a foul-mouthed man whose words make her blood boil and whose smile makes her heart race.

When he offers her a marriage proposal, his number one rule was not to fall for him, and Scarlet swears she wouldn't, but when thrust into a world of power, wealth, greed, and deceit, she soon realizes that the only way to retain her soul is by giving it to him, but why does a man who claims not to love her stop at nothing to protect her?

CHAPTER ONE
Scarlet's POV. Four years ago, I lost everything. I caught my fiancé in bed with my cousin and when I confronted them both, he slapped me for her. As if that was not enough, I got drunk and gave my virginity to a stranger. Two weeks later, I found out I was pregnant, and my uncle planned to marry me off to a man his age in order to pay off a debt. I had to run away in the dead of the night, taking nothing but my passport and my mom's jewelry that she had secretly given to me before her death. Now, four years later, you would think my life has gotten better. That I have somehow made it and become a woman no man dares mess with. “I'm sorry, Miss Thompson, but your daughter Ellie needs a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible.” I remained quiet, perhaps waiting for the doctor to take back his words, but seconds passed, and that sympathetic gaze still remained on me. Four years later and the universe is still screwing with me. “Y-you said she was getting better. That the medicine was working.” “The medicines are too strong for her body, and although they first help, her bleeding from her nose and fainting after prove that her body can no longer handle them." “Then test me again. Maybe I'm a match for her.” “I'm sorry, but that's not how it works, Miss Thompson. Your result already proves that you are not a match for your daughter.” Not a match. Never in my life have I felt as useless as at this moment. “Maybe her father could be a match.” The doctor said. His words didn't come as a surprise to me because I had researched my daughter's illness and knew that was a possibility. Her father. All I first knew about him was that he was the most handsome man I had ever set my eyes on, and I thought I would never see him again until a year ago when he appeared on the news channel. Kai Falcone. The number one business man in Newford City. The CEO of Falcone Empire and, according to the internet, a no-nonsense man whose words held power across the country. And the Falcone family were one of the richest families in the world. Their connection spreads to even having a say on the president himself. Even before seeing him on the news, I still remembered those blue eyes that looked at me as if I were the most precious being on earth. Those lips that kissed me as if I were his dying breath and how our bodies had merged together in pleasure. Now, you may think that the universe is finally smiling at me by making my baby daddy rich, but no—I have watched enough dramas and read enough novels to know that once I present my child to their world, they would plan to take her from me. And I would rather die than let anyone separate me from my daughter. “Ellie does not have much time. The sooner we get the bone marrow transplant done, the better.” I nodded and went straight to my daughter. Seeing Ellie unconscious broke something in me. My little girl was always full of life. The girl, who would play, jump, and run around the house, lay weakly on the bed with a machine being the only sign that she was still alive. I tried to hold it, but the tears escaped my eyes. How did it come to this? What did I do wrong that made her fall sick? I has always worked hard to make sure she never goes hungry. I ensure that she never once missed her vaccinations. I had done everything a good mother would do, or so I thought, because if truly I was a good mother, then my daughter wouldn't be here. Barely breathing. “When will she be awake?” I asked the nurse who was injecting something into Ellie's drip. “Ellie is currently very weak, and the medicine the doctor gave her would knock her out for a few hours. I suggest you go back home and make her favorite dish because she would like the food when she wakes up.” “Thank you.” I nodded and held my daughter's hand. She was so tiny. So little. Who would have ever thought that such a tiny little being would bring so much light and joy into my life? I leaned down to kiss her little fingers and gently whispered, “Don't worry, my baby. Mommy will make sure you get better. And whatever happens next, I will never let anyone take you away from me.” It was so hard leaving Ellie alone in the hospital. The thought of her waking up and not seeing me slowly ate me up, but I needed to do this. Time was running out, and unfortunately, this was the only way to save my daughter. I stared at the big building in front of me and entered, dressed like a delivery guy. I touched my fake beard and then pulled my cap down to properly cover my face. Ridiculous. I know. But this was the only way I could think of. I slammed the box on the receptionist's table and spoke in a deep voice, “I have a delivery for Kai Falcone.” The receptionist frowned and tried to meet my gaze, but I avoided her eyes like my life depended on it. “A delivery for Kai Falcone. “I repeated with urgency. “You can leave it here and go.” “No. This is a special delivery, and I was asked not to give it to anyone except Mr. Kai Falcone.” Her frown deepened. "Mr. Falcone can't be seen without an appointment. Just leave the delivery here, and I will make sure it gets to him.” I clung the box to me and said, “As I said before, this is a special delivery. If I can't deliver it to him personally, then I will take it back with me, and you will have to bear the consequences of it not reaching him.” The receptionist panicked. She looked at the box in my hand, and I took that as a sign to pretend to leave. I turned back and began walking slowly until I heard her panicked voice. “Wait!” I let out a small victory smile before turning back to her. She pointed to the elevator at the left. "The top floor is the CEO's office. His personal secretary, will already be waiting to receive your package for Mr Falcone.” I nodded and went straight to the elevator. My heart raced as the elevator continued to move up. Will he even remember me? We were both drunk that night, and I left before he could see my face. What will I do if Kai Falcone throws me out without listening to me?
