Kai Pov
Clarity returned to Scarlet's eyes, and she pushed me away with no hesitation.
I grimaced as my body landed on the bed with force but showed no sign that I was ever in pain.
Thanks to my father taking pleasure in hurting me as a child, I had somehow developed a high tolerance for pain.
I stared at Scarlet as she organized her dress while her cheek remained flush.
She then glared at me. “Don't ever do that to me again."
“What? Give you an orgasm?” I smirk.
Her cheek turned redder, and I couldn't help but notice how cute she looked.
What a shame she is to become my wife!
The thought suddenly made my mood sour. “Leave. I'm feeling sleepy.”
Scarlet looked at me in disbelief, as if she hadn't heard me right.
But my gaze on her remained cold as I repeated, “Get out.”
Her hands clenched into a fist, and her eyes became watery, as if about to cry.
She walked to the door, her hand already on the knob when she turned again and spat, “Remember when I said all I needed was your bone marrow? Well, my words still stand because there is no way I am ever getting married to you.”
She slammed the door shut, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I looked at the place I had been operated on and then lay down gently.
My mind went back to Ellie and how I had felt nothing when I saw her.
Giving her my bone marrow felt like a responsibility for bringing her into this messed-up world.
Perhaps, once she gets better, it would be best to send her to a boarding school.
Once she has no expectations from me, she would never be disappointed that I failed her.
And as for Scarlet….
I sighed softly, closing my eyes as the effect of the drugs began to take over.
What if I keep her even after the deal is done?
My last thought was how she had looked coming on my fingers, and I wish to see it again.
……
Morning came, and the doctor allowed me to be discharged, but Ellie still needed to be monitored for a few days before getting discharged.
I buttoned up the last hole in my shirt and collected my blazer from Alex, who was telling me all his findings about my soon-to-be wife.
I glanced at him when he stopped. “Is that all?”
“Yes sir.”
“Was she ever in a relationship?”
“She has had admirers but nothing serious.”
“Good.”
“But how will you convince her to get married?”
I smiled and was about to say something when Scarlet flung the door open.
The panic and fear in her eyes made me uncomfortable. “Scar….”
“I can't find Ellie!”
“What?”
“I have searched everywhere, but I can't find her.”
“What do you mean you can't find her? Weren't you by her side all night?”
“I was, but I fell asleep, and when I woke up, she was gone. The hospital staff are already looking for her, but no one knows where she is.” She choked as tears rolled down her eyes.
“If crying could find my daughter then I would also be shedding tears with you, so just stop it!” I screamed at her and immediately felt bad when she flinched at me.
Ignoring her, I glanced at Alex. "Call Sam.”
Alex immediately called Sam, who thankfully picked up.
I took the phone from him and said, “I need you to find someone for me. She is three and a half years old. Black hair and blue eyes. She was last seen at Newford City Hospital, so hack whatever you have to, but I need to know where my daughter is.”
“Daughter? Yes, boss. Give me just five minutes.”
Sam was the best hacker in the world and could find anybody within minutes.
“Alex, join the staff in searching for Ellie and question them to see if anyone is hiding something.”
Alex nodded and walked out while Scarlet stood in a corner, crying softly.
I felt the need to comfort her, but I had never comforted anyone in my life, so the words to make her feel better just weren't coming to me, so I stayed on the line, listening as Sam slammed his fingers on the keyboard.
“Found her.” I placed the call on the speaker, and Scarlet came closer, wiping her tears.
“At 6am she was taken out of the hospital by a nurse. I am sending you the footage right now.”
I quickly played the video, and Scarlet grabbed the phone from my hand; her eyes widened in disbelief.
“That’s the nurse who was in charge of giving Ellie her medicine. But why would she take her? It doesn't make sense. ”.
“I just ran a background check on her using her photo, and it seems she is drowning in debt.”
“I need her location, Sam.”
The sound of the keyboard rattled in my ears for a few seconds before he said, “I'm checking the last place she had stopped after leaving the hospital, and it's an abandoned building.”
I removed the phone from speaker and said, “Send me the address and also everything about her. Her home address, her kids, her lover, everything.”
“I got it.”
I ended the call, and within seconds my phone beeped, but it wasn't a message from Sam.
It was a photo of an unconscious Ellie, with a message written under it.
‘Will the great Kai Falcone break at the death of his daughter?’
P.S I heard she is allergic to nuts.
Unable to contain myself, I chuckled coldly at the message.
It seems someone is looking to die today.
