Chapter - 52

Linda laughed like a maniac and disappeared into the thin air before Peter could do anything to her. “Everyone, start to search the nearby areas and find her at all costs. She cannot escape from us so easily and we need to make sure of that. The minute she leaves, all our plans would get exposed to our enemies and it would compromise our planet’s safety,” James shouted at his team. “No, don’t! No one moves,” Peter warned and tried to stop them.  But the militants had already started to move from where they were standing and by the time they realized their mistake, it was already too late. Whoever tried to chase after the clone got their legs stuck under the descending mud. It was like they were sinking into a deep pit which was a void space. Most of them fell into the pit and nobody could help them get out as that would only worsen the situation. A few who tried to pull them out went along with them instead. “Stop moving! Everybody stop moving and stay wherever you are!” Peter ordered as the militants got agitated and tried their best to escape from that situation. “She had turned this whole place into a deep hole and if you fell there, then there is no coming out,” Peter informed them.  “So stop moving around and stay put. I will rescue you all,” He told them but no one was ready to believe a kid yet. Still, they did not move as they saw what happened to their teammates just now who tried to run from there. Peter decided to analyze the area, so he moved a little and found out that nothing was happening to him. He realized that the witch’s magic doesn’t work on him. As he actually got powers from Ashes Lord himself and because of that he was not affected by these petty tricks played by the evil people. He pulled out as many people as possible from the pit and placed them inside the tent. “This place is compromised, I think we need to find a way to leave from here,” James said to Peter while trying to stand like a statue. He regretted commanding his men to chase after the clone while he didn’t grasp the seriousness of the situation they were put in by her. “We will… But first, we need to create several large portals to send everyone out of this place as soon as possible. As I am the only one who could move without falling into the pits, I will try to move as many as possible using my power. But I don’t know how long or how much it could work as I am more surprised myself by my newly acquired powers than anyone here,” Peter said and shook his hands. A blue light emerged from his hands and made Robert wonder, ‘Isn’t it supposed to be yellow which is the color of the Ashes Planet? If he is blessed by the Ashes Lord then he should not shine in blue… Blue is for the Asran star. What’s happening to Peter?’ Moreover, Robert felt that his friend was not only his friend any longer. He not only looked different from before but he also behaved differently as well. Did the poison roast his brain and make him smarter and sharper and also gain these powers? “I can hear your wild thoughts, Robert. If you don’t want to be left behind, then you better use that silly brain of yours to help me make enough portals,” Peter told him. “If you have already got the blessing then can’t you create the portals using your powers? That would be easier as I am afraid to move,” Robert said while sweat covered his forehead. He almost danced on his legs as he became imbalanced and was frightened that he would fall into the pit any minute now. Peter watched his dancing from the side and let out a chuckle. “This is not the time to laugh and make fun,” Robert uttered through his gritted teeth while trying to stand straight. But then gravity gave away and when he tried to steady himself, he lost his footing and was above to fall into the pit. But Peter swished his hands and the blue light on his palm slid under Robert. So, before Robert could land into the deep hole, the blue light caught him and made him float in the air. Peter then continued to throw the blue light at the militants one after another and they all started to float in the air. Once Peter made sure that everyone was safe, he walked towards Robert and asked him, “What are you doing playing with the blue light? Are you a child? Grow up! I asked you to create portals to transfer the militants.” ‘Should I have taken the poison instead? Maybe then I could have become as cool as him as well. Now I would not feel like being left alone all by myself. I could have also helped Peter and got some appreciation from my father,’ Robert thought and intensely stared at Peter’s hands. “Stop staring at me and get to work,” Peter knocked on Robert’s head and commanded.  He then leaned near Robert’s ears and whispered a location. Robert looked at him with uncertain eyes but then he nodded his head in agreement. “As per your command, Boss. Anything else I must do?” Robert jumped up and rotated his hands. James looked at his son in astonishment as he never knew that his son could create a manual portal. But he soon came out of his bafflement and ordered his team to create portals. The militants traveled to the nearby area to bring the machine to create a portal. But then they realized that if they try to move it then it may also fall into the pit.  At that moment, as if Peter understood their thought came near them and placed his hands on the machine. It instantly started to create portals faster than Robert. After the portals were created and checked for their stability, Peter ordered all the militants to leave first. At that time, Robert noticed that Elly was missing and so he looked at his father and asked him, “Dad, where is Elly?” “She came along with me to meet Peter. She must be still inside the tent.” “I will go look for her. You all can wait,” Peter hurriedly said and rushed into the tent. Over there Elly sat on the cot with tearful eyes. She had a sad face and she was guilt-ridden as she feared to face her brother. Peter slowly walked near her and rubbed her head. He then said, “Thank goodness! You are fine! I was afraid that the clone took you along with her. You are safe and now I can assure you that our mom will start smiling.” “I am sorry, Brother. I never meant to get you hurt,” Elly said in a low voice in between her tears. “I know! How would you have known that the cage was poisoned? You are also a victim of that evil witch's plan. Don’t worry about that. Now come on out, let’s get out of this place.” Peter lifted her in his hands and came out of the tent. Almost everyone had left on the portal and only Elly, James, Robert, and Draven were left along with Peter. Peter then held Elly’s hands and said to her, “Elly, I need you to be brave enough and go with uncle James and Draven to save our aunt Linda. Will you do that for me?” Before Elly could respond, James interrupted and asked him, “But Peter, what are you planning and why are you not telling us anything? What are you hiding, Peter?”  He was worried that something was wrong with Peter because of the poison and he thought that the traces of the poison might still be in the bloodstream.  Also, he could not understand why Peter would ask Elly to go with them on such a dangerous operation! ‘Isn’t he supposed to worry about her safety and send her to the safe place instead of asking her to go meet the evil witch who kidnaped her?’ James wondered. Because the Peter he knew would never send his own sister into any danger. He even came here all by himself along with his son, Robert to rescue his dear sister.
