‘After he has gone through so much to cross the border and save his sister, he is once again willing to send her back to that evil witch’s lair. Why? Why would he want to do that?’ James wondered as it had become very difficult to read what’s on Peter’s mind.
He just could not understand this new Peter at all. He was able to rescue everyone and his appearance kept on changing with each passing minute. He was not sure if it was the same kid anymore, who he used to see grow up every day when they lived next door.
“James, you have to trust me on this one. Elly knows in and out of that witch’s place and she can help you locate Linda easily. I would have come with you but right now my mother needs me on her side. We cannot waste any time here arguing or trying to prove my decision was a better choice for all of us right now,” Peter patiently said to James.
“But, Peter… I can go along with Draven to rescue Linda. If you are going to find your mother then isn’t it better to bring Elly along with you?” James asked him.
He tried to send the kids safely out of there without having to meet the evil witch. Also, they don’t know what other precautions the evil witch would have taken after their attack last time.
“No, you are not understanding what I am trying to say. It would be much better with her help navigating that place rather than going there blindly and trying to fight her; Like how you tried to rescue us last time. It might have worked once and you succeeded but blind attacks would not work out all the time,” Peter argued with him.
Even though what Peter said made sense, still James could not bring himself to take Elly along with him. But before he could oppose the idea once more, Peter said in a stern voice,
“James, I am not asking you to take Elly. It is an order and I believe you that you would not go against it.”
Peter now had yellow and blue flames all around him and he looked very upset. James gulped after seeing his change in nature and could not help but just nod his head automatically.
“Yes sir,” He replied with a salute and walked near the portal created by Robert.
Draven too saluted and lifted Elly from the ground. Just before they left, Peter put his hand on top of Elly’s head and said,
“I know you are brave! Once you rescue aunt Linda, come near the border. I and mother will be waiting for you.”
“Yes, brother!” Elly nodded her head before disappearing into the portal.
Right after her Draven jumped into the portal and then James followed them. Once they all left, Robert looked at Peter with a worried expression along with fear-filled eyes.
His face looked funny to see as he kept on changing his expression between fear and worry simultaneously. He could not decide on one expression and finally, when he decided, Peter came and knocked on his head again.
“What are you doing? Now create a portal that would take us to our mothers, fast…” Peter urged him before destroying the campsite by throwing yellow fire.
Robert closed his eyes and tried to create a portal but then he had just almost all his powers to create the last portal. So, he couldn’t succeed in his first attempt.
“Can’t we use the militants' device that was used to create the portals earlier?” Robert asked as he struggled to keep the small portal he opened just now.
He rotated his hands and tried to bring the core energy onto them. But it was still difficult to stabilize the portal.
“No! Then everyone will find out where we went which I don’t want them to know,” Peter said with a poker face while leaning against a tree trunk.
“If you have gained powers then why don’t you create these portals yourself?” Robert asked him.
Peter without even considering his friendship for so many years, replied immediately, “Then what is the use of you keeping you with me? Are you only here to look at me in awe and admire my skills and feel jealous of me?”
“What? What? What?” Robert could not believe he was hearing such words from Peter.
“Jealous? Jealous? Jealous?” Robert once again repeated the word three times as he got an unexplainable feeling in his heart.
Peter just smiled at him and he suddenly found that it was enjoyable to tease someone. It did really give him immense satisfaction and excitement.
“I am jealous? Do you really think I am jealous of you?” Robert asked and huffed at Peter.
“Yes, you are!” Peter said with a mocking smile.
“So, what if I am? I could have also got the power of the Ashes Lord if I met him,” Robert told him.
“No, you cannot! Not anyone can get the power… You are not born for that, so stop thinking of useless things and concentrate on creating that portal,” Peter patted his shoulders and told him.
His pat made him feel a slight change in his body. Slowly, he was able to regain the powers and his portal started to stabilize as well. Just when he was about to finish the portal, Peter said,
“I am sorry if I had frightened you all this time with my looks. If you don’t want to come with me then I could just send you back along with others if you want,” Peter told him with a teasing gaze and moved away from Robert.
He walked towards the undestroyed device that could create a portal and tapped its body. He then said to Robert, “You can wait along with the militants near the border.”
“No! No! It’s fine. I am fine. It is just that this is all too much for me to take in right now,” Robert told him in a depressed voice.
Suddenly, Peter’s appearance changed and he looked like a normal body. The ground under them once again started to collapse.
“Peter, careful…” Robert shouted and when he tried to go near him, the blue light that was holding him until now disappeared as well.
Also, the stability of the portal started to collapse. ‘No! No! No! We have to leave now…’ With determination, Robert hopped once near Peter.
“Leave me… You go… Jump on the portal and leave from here… It’s too dangerous if you try to save me…” Peter said and tried to push Robert away.
“No, I am your friend and I would never leave you behind,” Robert said with resoluteness and pulled him along with him towards the portal.
The ground started to shake a lot and he had to be very careful as one wrong step could be the end for both of them.
“Robert, I don't know what came over me earlier and why did I talk to everyone like that? I know one thing for sure, all this which is happening is related to the guy I met in my dreams … Aaahhh… Ahhh… Robert, my heart… it’s aching a lot...” Peter held his heart and kneeled on the ground.
“No… Not now… We need to leave before the portal closes… Once we go to our moms, they will know what needs to be done. Please stay with me until then. Everything’s going to be ok soon, I promise. Please trust me…” Robert said and lifted him from the ground.
He then tried to push him into the opened portal but then the ground under them started to slide and they moved further away from the portal.
“Peter… Wake up… Peter… You need to jump into the portal or else we will both fall into this pit.” Robert shouted and pulled Peter’s hands.
“Robert, you need to go now… I can’t get up at all… I don’t think I will make it…” Peter said and he almost fainted.
But Robert was not ready to accept defeat yet. He held Peter’s hand tightly and said, “On my count, we are going to jump in the portal…”
“Now!” Robert shouted and jumped along with Peter into the portal.
