Chapter - 59

‘Also, did they intentionally hide Elly, so that it would distract Sussan’s mind and could easily get her attention diverted? But right now, Peter and Sussan went to meet that evil witch. Should I have stopped them or should I have joined them? What if something bad happens over there?’ She wanted to pull all her hair out as all these questions bombarded her mind. The whole situation was too confusing and nerve-racking. She just hoped that Sussan and Peter would find Elly soon so that they could concentrate on the war and try to stop it by working together. Suddenly something popped up in her mind and Brenda stopped walking. She then gathered everyone around and asked them, “Who started the rumor first that the war broke out against the Lambanies as we continued to stay in their land?”  When they heard Brenda’s question suddenly, they all looked at each other’s faces and whispered among themselves. She realized something was definitely wrong as their faces showed horrified expressions. At that moment, Sommer came forward and asked her, “Isn’t David? I meant the duplicate David who disappeared a while ago. He was the one who informed us that Sussan came to know about the war and wanted to warn us all. So that we could escape before we were slaughtered as the illegal occupants who occupied their space on this planet.”  Sommer was upset that the one he believed to be his friend had all of a sudden turned into an unknown old man and even tried to kill everyone. He still could not believe all that happened earlier in front of him and especially, that man whom he trusted the most. Even before he changed his appearance, they were discussing building a colony to accommodate their clan members. The way he spoke made him believe that he truly cared about this clan even though he was not one of them. But now everything has turned into nothing. It was all a lie and it affected him a lot as he was the only one the duplicate David was close to. He was also afraid that his clan may start to doubt that he might also be involved with the evil old man. “Yes, I have also heard about the war from him,” Another person came forward and agreed with Sommer. One after another everyone in the group said that it was David who had convinced them that the war had broken up against their clan. And that they had to escape before it’s too late. After hearing what they said and analyzing the situation, Brenda finally confirmed that the news of the war was spread by the duplicate David. She had joined the group after seeing the decree from the Asran star.  ‘So, how was it possible for anyone else to know about it so soon? David must have told them but how did he come to know of the decree which was confidential and kept hidden from almost all of the people on this planet. Even most of the militants do not know about the decree.’ Brenda thought and she felt a chill run down her spine. “What are you thinking? Is there something wrong or is there no war at all and we were all tricked into leaving our homes?” Cathy asked Brenda as she was too shocked at the revelation. “Mom, I doubt that we actually might have been tricked by that old man into leaving the city. I think that they are planning to attack the planet and take over it. The only way they could be stopped or defeated would be by using our combined powers. So they first separated us by sending the decree here and made sure that they spread the rumor of the war through someone whom we trust the most. Or else how in the world would we have doubted our own kins and friends?” Brenda concluded and regretted not discussing anything with her husband, James. ‘If only I was not so hot-headed and stayed behind until James arrived home, then we would not have suffered so much,’ Brenda’s heart ached for the mistake she made. Now all she could do was to hope that nothing had gone wrong yet and they still had time to stop those evil creatures from taking over their planet. ‘How dare they intentionally try to drive them away from their own places? I will definitely teach all those evil creatures a lesson before kicking them all the way to the Ashes Planet for their retribution,’ Brenda grudgingly thought and looked at her clan members with bright eyes. But there was one slight difficulty that stood in their way. It was always an easy task to defeat an enemy whom they could see with our n***d eyes. But an enemy who could disguise as one of us and even try to create the fight among ourselves, it was going to be the most dangerous war history had ever seen.  Moreover, it would even turn into the most difficult war to win as well. History has never recorded anything like this ever happened before!! Brenda shivered at the mere thought of such a war and closed her eyes for a minute to stay calm. Robert watched his mother’s trembling hands and came near her. “Mom, don’t worry! Everything is going to be ok as Peter has a solid plan,” He whispered in her ears. Brenda then regained her senses and she looked at Robert with a proud smile. She then patted his head and said, “I know, you kids are the most brilliant planner. But as an adult, I too have some responsibilities to fulfill which is to protect you all.” She then gazed at the clan members in front of her and spoke in a loud voice to them all. “We need to move fast! Faster and the fastest if possible… It looks like our greatest enemy might be hiding within us and also might try to prevent us from moving forward. I believe in you all but our enemy is smarter and stronger than us. So we need to fight harder to separate them from us all in order to defeat them.” She said with clear eyes and examined the group once. At that time Robert who was silently preparing a potion rushed towards his mom and said, “Mom, I have made a magical potion that could act as an invisible paint. Peter had informed me that not even the highest witch can see those marks except for us! This will help us differentiate between our people and the witch’s underlings.” Brenda extended her hand to take the first mark to motivate the group to come forward and support their plan. Robert drew the purple flower on her hands and marked that she was one of them from now on.  “Peter had already scanned each one of us before he left. And he assured me that everyone present here is a Lambany and not of any other clan. Now we need to paint everyone’s hand so that if anyone tries to mingle with us later, then we will be aware of them and we can act with caution towards them.” He informed the group and continued to draw the purple flower mark on his grandmother, Cathy’s hands. Once he finished drawing on Cathy’s arm, he marked his hands as well. Then he continued to say, “I have added a little bit of Borneo powder to this potion.  As we are immune to this powder from birth, if anyone else other than our clan members tried to use this paint, then it would burn them to ashes.” “To the victory and freedom of the Asher planet, we will all pledge today to protect our planet with our lives. We will defend our planet from those evil creatures and drive them away,” Cathy folded the fingers in her hand and hit twice on her chest. Everyone from their clan immediately followed her and hit their chest twice to show that they have decided to join them in this war against the evil creatures. Brenda immediately informed everyone around them that, “I am now going to mark your hand with this invisible paint. From now on, we will be able to recognize who belongs to our clan and who does not.” “My son, Robert, had prepared this potion and he even made sure to add Borneo powder which would make our enemy vanish. From now on, there is nothing for us to worry about at all until we reach the border safely. Those evil creatures could never mingle among us until this special paint mark is on our body.” Brenda told them and assured them that everything's going to be okay from then on.
