“Alright! But I still could not believe that my son is all grown up now. I suddenly miss you not being dependent on me and seeing that you already started making decisions on your own… I am astounded,” Sussan sighed and leaned on Peter’s shoulders. Peter smiled and patted his mother’s head. He then said in a low voice, “Mom, I am your son and I would never show any superiority in front of you. Also, it was not my intention to hurt your feelings, Mom. I am sorry if I had done something that caused you any suffering.” “No! What do you mean by Superiority? And stop apologizing to me. I know the baby bird would one day have to spread its wings and fly in the air independently. Also, look at the way you are talking to me. I really feel like you have grown up so fast in just a couple of days,” Sussan hit his shoulders and complained to him. “Mom!” Peter did not know how to assure his mother that it was not his intention at all. Everything happened so fast and he too was still in a daze that it was almost unbelievable for him too. But what had to be done should be done. So, he stopped lingering around anymore and nodded his head at Robert. Robert understood his signal and started to rotate his hands in the air. Brenda joined him by providing more force to the portal Robert was creating for them to use.  Brenda along with Robert helped them open a portal to the old witch’s lair. As her place keeps moving from one area to another, Robert had to be more cautious when opening the portal. Also, with a protective shield as their defense system, it would be impossible to point the portal at a particular location. Robert tried his best to point to the portal to the witch’s place but he was unsure if he could exactly send them to the location where Peter and Sussan had to go. When Peter noticed Robert’s hesitation, he walked near him. “Don’t worry. I will redirect the portal to the correct destination. All you need to do is create a portal while thinking about the cell we were kept locked in,” Peter informed him. “Ok,” Robert nodded his head and swirled the air using his hands. A steady non-glittering portal was created and Robert held the portal open with his magical powers. “The portal is now ready for use,” Robert said to him. “Alright, I will meet you at the other end of the border soon.” Peter patted Robert’s shoulders twice and allowed his mother to jump in the portal first. Robert wanted to go along with him very badly but as the time was most precious at the moment, he could only ask Peter to be careful.  “I will keep waiting for you near the border. Make sure to come fast and do not disappoint me,” Robert told him with a heavy heart. Peter just nodded his head and whispered something into his ears. Robert then nodded his head and waited until Peter got into the portal. After seeing them disappear into the blue waves, with no further delays he left along with his mother towards the border. The manual portal created by Robert got closed automatically and their long journey towards the border had just begun. At that point, they could not distinguish between what was right or what was wrong as it was already too late to argue on that subject. All they wanted was to get back to their own home even if they are not welcomed any longer. Now they had understood that fleeing was never a solution at all. Everyone had the courage to fight back for their rights and they would never be weaklings anymore. “I hope we did not make a big mistake by leaving our home. I am unsure how the current condition of our homes would be,” Cathy said worriedly. “Mom, we did not leave that place because we were afraid of them or anyone in that case. We wanted everyone to live in peace without fighting among one another. At that time, I thought that if I left then it would bring peace to the planet. So for me, I decided that it was for the best to disappear from there.” Brenda said in a low voice. Her heart ached and she missed her husband a lot. There was not a single moment passed without thinking about him. At first, it was because of anger thinking that her husband, the one she loved more than her life, had betrayed her. But now her mind had calmed down a lot and she decided to put her faith in her husband, James as usual. A small smile crossed her mouth as she thought about his reaction when they would finally meet. “We are their friends as well as their family. So how could we simply put them in danger along with ours? We did not mind dying but we definitely did not want to see them die,” Tears rolled from Brenda’s eyes uncontrollably. She misses her husband very badly these days when she was away from the warmth he always gave her. Even though she pretended that she was okay on the outside, her mind was a mess and she dearly wanted to hug James.  She remembered the time he proposed to her and when they got married. Also, when Robert was born, the happiest person at that moment was James. He held the baby Robert in his hands with happy tears on his face. He then kissed her and said, “I can give you my life if you ask me right away.” ‘How could I have forgotten about all his oaths and love?’ She cursed at herself for acting so foolishly. They had so many memorable memories but at that moment she thought that leaving was the only better choice. She really wanted him to live a good life but now she understands that without him she was nothing.  Even if she was asked to choose once again, she was sure that she would definitely not have any change in her decision. As she would always want everything in the best interest of James and she would do anything for him to keep him safe. “Stop crying! I can handle a crying child, you do know that well. Whenever you cried, I would throw you at your father. Right now, I can’t do that as you have grown up a lot and your father is no more with us,” Cathy complained and hit Brenda’s back. “Mom, do you really need to be so heartless?” Brenda puffed her cheeks and muttered. “Yes, I better be heartless as I don’t want to see you cry anymore. Wipe your tears and try to control your emotions. Look, even Robert was brave enough to go across the border and he came back to us after fighting the evil. But look at you, you are good for nothing other than crying all day long,” Cathy hissed at her daughter and made a disappointed face. “Mom, how could you be …” Words got stuck in Brenda’s throat as she found it impossible to argue with her mother. Just when Brenda was almost at a loss for words, Cathy said, “Learn more from Sussan. Your friend is much better than you at handling situations. Earlier, when it was revealed that David was not one of us, she tried to protect everyone by keeping her sorrows aside. I wonder if I would have the strength to fight against him after knowing such bitter truth. So, always be thankful for what you have and stop crying again.” Cathy then shook her head in disapproval and walked away from Brenda while pulling Robert along with her. Brenda also felt bad for her friend, Sussan. She could not figure out why David was not the David they knew. Several questions were eating her mind but there was no one to answer them. ‘Where the hell is original David? How could they not differentiate between David and that creature? That creature was so life-like and it did not make any mistake in acting like David.’ Brenda thought while chasing behind her mother and son. But then she wondered, ‘If I couldn’t find out about the truth of David, it might be because I am not so close to him. But why was Sussan unable to do that? She had always been good at catching them from a young age. What changed in them to be able to blind our eyes and act like one of us?’
