Chapter - 55

Sussan did not respond to David immediately and kept on staring at him. ‘David! What am I going to tell him now? I am unable to face him and I am feeling bad for him.’ She thought and got out of his hold.

She gazed at David once and then walked away without saying a word to him. David looked at her with astonishment and chased after her. He could understand her sudden change in behavior and it almost brought fright in his mind.

‘What happened after she met the Ashes Lord?’ He wondered and his heart started to beat at an alarming speed.

Meanwhile, Sussan stood next to Brenda and said, “Let us go back. There is nothing to do here. Right now, we need to find our kids and keep them safe.”

“What is wrong with you, Sussan? Why are you behaving this way? Did Ashes Lord say something? What did he say?” David kept on asking Sussan and he looked very worried about her response.

“Yes, tell us. Did he agree to help us? Is he going to support our cause?” Brenda asked impatiently and also with curiosity. 

“No! We could not talk about our situation as the circumstance did not allow me to take that topic in front of him,” Sussan replied through her gritted teeth.

Then Sussan asked her, “Can we leave this place now? I don’t want to stay here any longer. Inform our clan members that we are going back to the border. We will fight by ourselves and get our homes back from the militants if needed.” 

“Sussan, what happened? Why are you ignoring me?” David pulled Sussan’s hand and stopped her from escaping from him.

Sussan shook her hands and tried to remove them from David’s clutch. But David’s hold was so strong that she could not escape from him easily.

“David, let go of my hand,” Sussan said with a poker face.

“Sussan, look at me… Look at my face when you are talking to me. What did the Ashes Lord tell you?” David asked him and did not let go of Sussan.

Sussan did not reply to him and turned her head towards Brenda. She then asked her, 

“Is Team five ok? Did they come back safely? I saw them eat some exotic fruits, can you please check if they are doing ok?”

Brenda glanced at their hands once and then nodded her head with slight hesitation. Before leaving she told her, 

“Wallace and others who went inside the barrier are sleeping right now. Just like you, we found them a little distance away on the ground after the barrier lifted from that area. I will now go and inform everyone that we are leaving from here and you are doing ok.”

Sussan slightly blinked her eyes and gave her the signal to leave now. David without averting his eyes kept on looking at Sussan expecting an answer from her.

Sussan waited until Brenda walked away from them. Then she had an inner struggle if she needed to tell him the truth about their kids or not.

David’s patience was running low and he gripped her hands tightly. He then asked in a hushed tone, “Sussan, tell me what happened after you met the Ashes Lord. Did he do something to you?”

“No!” Sussan instantly replied and shook her head.

“Then what did he say to you?” David asked her again.

Sussan stared into the distance and once again went into silence mode. David’s patience was running low as he got a very bad feeling in his heart. He understood that Sussan was hiding something from him.

“Sussan, I am asking you for the last time. What happened after you met the Ashes Lord?” David asked through his gritted teeth.

Sussan ignored him and tried to get her hands out of his grasp. As he did not let go of her, Sussan said, “David, you are hurting me. Let go of me. I am not going to run away from here. Once we gather everyone then I will tell whatever happened and what Ashes Lord told me.”

“No, I want to know it now. Tell me… What did he say?” David forced her to talk right that minute.

His agitation confused Sussan and made her lift her head and looked at him in shock. He had never behaved like this before and had always accepted her decision. But today, he acted totally different and his eyes did not show any love in them.

“David, let my hands go.” She said in a stern voice.

“No, until you tell me everything I am not going to let you go,” David said in a stony voice.

Sussan could not understand why he would get adamant all of a sudden. ‘Did he find out about the truth of my kids?’ Sussan wondered and chills ran down her spine.

When David saw her flustered face, his mind almost imagined several impossible things and his head almost burst from the anxiety. 

‘No, I have to know what happened when she met the Ashes Lord. There is no way I am letting these people cross the border. Our plan would fail and we cannot take over this planet,’ David thought and pushed Sussan on the ground.

“Tell me, what do you know?” David demanded.

Sussan shook her head and rubbed her injured palm. When she got pushed by David, the rocks under her feet stuck on her palm and it started to bleed.

David was in no mood to care for her as she was only interested in knowing the details between her and the Ashes Lord. Sussan looked at him with painful eyes and gripped her injured palm.

“What happened to you? Why are you behaving like this?” Sussan asked him.

“Tell me the details if you want to live,” David said in a warning tone.

When David said that Sussan’s world collapsed. She could not believe if she had heard his words correctly or not. So, she asked him,

“David, what’s wrong? Why are you speaking in that way?”

David’s eyes landed on the infinite pouch that she was gripping in her hands. So, he asked her, What did he give you? Take it out right now.”

“No…” Sussan said and clutched her bag close to her body.

She then stood up and walked away from him without looking behind. But David chased after her and tried to grasp her arm once again. But at that time, Cathy came in between them and blocked David.

“David, I don’t like the way you are behaving towards Sussan. Stay away from her if you don’t want to get hurt,” Cathy warned him.

But that did not stop David from approaching Sussan again. Cathy lifted her stick and knocked on David’s arm, making him scream in pain.

“Cathy, please don’t hurt him,” Sussan tried to hold Cathy’s stick and tried to stop her.

“You, old woman! How dare you try to hurt me?” David looked at Cathy with a menacing gaze and shouted at her.

Then he dashed towards her with a glare and tried to attack her. But Sussan pushed him behind with her magical power and stopped him.

“David, that’s enough! You are crossing the line,” Sussan said in a warning tone.

“How dare you try to hit me for this madwoman? I will kill you both,” David grudgingly said and dashed towards the woman in front of him with a weapon he pulled out from his inner pocket.

“David! Stop right there…” Sussan once again swished her hands in the air and sent David flying away from them.

“Cathy, let’s go before he comes back,” She told Cathy and held her hand.

Sussan pulled Cathy along with her and started to run towards the crowd a little far from them. David chased after them and stood in front of them in no time.

“Where do you think you are going? Hand me whatever Ashes Lord gave you or else I will destroy your whole clan in seconds,” David gave a warning to them.

“Never…” Sussan said and hid the infinite pouch behind her back.

“You really have a death wish today, don’t you? Alright! I gave you many chances, now get ready to meet the ashes of that replica you met earlier,”  David said and raised his weapon once again in the air.
