Chapter - 66

Peter looked around the deserted place they landed and he wondered why he did not know about the existence of such a place before on this planet. When he turned to ask James about it, he had already understood what Peter wanted to know.  So he swiftly replied, “This is a restricted military area. Over here they used to test new weapons after the completion of the final phase. I have no idea how the evil witch was able to bring her place to such a protected area.” “That’s simple… She did not bring the place here, but the building itself moved over here. As I revisited the history earlier, I noticed a pattern in her appearance or that building. Since the structure had already realized that the last of its days on this planet are near, it revisited all the places the owner of that building had gone earlier after she came here to our planet. It’s like a memory jog but it happened against the evil witch’s desire,” Peter explained to James and others. It would be now easy to find out where Bairania went and what she did in those places. Peter stared at the open space with fiery eyes. He did not expect to see such an interesting fact that happened in a military zone. James shook his head in desperation as he tried to make it clear by describing the events in detail that happened in the past to Peter. “But this area has been closed for some decades now as it had become unsuitable for even visiting. After they invented the wrong weapon and brought it out to test the functionality here, the area surrounding several thousand miles turned toxic. That experimental testing caused this whole place to be filled with dangerous poison. It was the chief at that time who helped to conceal the poison but he went missing right after that incident,” James informed Peter. Peter felt like James was hiding something but still out of curiosity he asked, “So did they find him later?” James looked at Peter and wondered whether he should tell the kid the truth or not. After he grasped the powers that run within Peter, he did not think that it was right for him to hide the information. He knows even if he hides it now, later Peter would definitely find it out using his power. “He did come back to us a few months later with the Royal decree from the Asran star. Since it was brought by the elder, who we respected a lot for his sacrifices in our field, we had to honor him. Moreover, the decree even held the seal of the council of the Asran and we couldn't avoid what had happened later! We all regret it now but there is nothing much we could do about it right now. Even if it happens all over again, I think no one can change the fate of this planet’s situation. There are too many loopholes and going against such a noble person is like doubting our militant’s rules,” James told Peter but with a guilty expression. He was the one who got most affected by this decree. Because of this decree, his stupid wife, Brenda, left him along with their son, Robert without informing him or giving a heads up of her decision. When he came back to his empty house, he just wanted to shout out aloud in vexation. How could she just run away from home and that too at this age? Doesn’t she know how much he loves her? How could she do this to him?  If she had said a word, he would have also left along with her but no! She just had to take off like wind and disappear from him to make him experience hell. Peter did not want to miss this opportunity to know more about this incident. Even though he could see the past using the eyes of the Ashes Lord, few things could only be learned from the individuals themselves. Also, the events during that time were so jumbled up that taking each loop and removing the knots were highly impossible at this time. So, he decided to ask his doubts and clarify them with James as he seemed to be much aware of the situation. Moreover, the evil witch was involved in that incident, so he had to be wary of this incident.  He glanced at James with clear eyes and asked him in a gentle tone to confirm once again, “So, the elder disappeared from here and came back with a decree from Asran’s council directly? Or was he just a messenger who could have been used by our enemies?” After hearing Peter’s words, James widened his eyes in shock. He could not believe that such a possibility existed. The most respected elder by everyone on this planet might have joined hands with the enemy, doesn’t that mean we are compromised already! “Yes, he came with the decree which was handed to him by the Asran’s council directly in his hands. That’s what the elder informed us,” James replied calmly, even though his heart was racing with indescribable feelings that made him sweat a lot. He did not know if it was caused because of the temperature around them or if it was because of the toxic air which surrounded the area. He also felt baffled when he realized that he was being questioned by a kid who was not even half his age. “Do you mean to say that the elder himself went to Asran but he somehow managed to come back alive without being turned into Asran’s dust?” Peter asked once again as he tried to understand the whole situation. “We do not know the exact details about his situation. All I could confirm is that when he came back, he was the one holding the decree. Still, I cannot assume anything fervently and respond on his behalf. The best solution now would be that we ask him the truth directly,” James concluded as he did not want to create any misunderstanding as the elder was considered as a legend among the militants. If he was pointed fingers by someone then it means that the whole of militants would be described as the bad ones in the current situation. He could not let that happen as he is also one of them and also holds a high position right now. Peter understood why James was hesitant to answer anything firmly from his side. He already found out that James was not hiding any serious matters after analyzing his face.  If it involves the militants' authenticity and veridicality, anyone who is faithful or loyal to them would never let go of their pride and talk against their faith. So, Peter was not offended by his blunt response. Instead, he made a decision that would shock everyone present over there. “Fine. Then I will go and ask him myself,” Peter announced and did not wait to take even his mother’s permission as he had promised her before. “Peter, how can you go alone to meet him? You are still a small kid and that place is too dangerous for a vacation or expedition. We already did not have a conversation yet about how you left the camp without informing me to find your sister across the border on your own. And now you want to go away once again all by yourself? No! No! This is not happening!” Sussan declared and protested against his idea of him going to meet the elder. She had already heard about him a lot and she also knew how notorious that elder was from the way he tried to sacrifice himself for some dangerous weapon testing. So, there was no way she would allow his son to go meet him in person, especially now that the connection between the elder and the evil witch is almost confirmed. “I am sorry! I am sorry, mom. But at that time, as I said before, all I could think of was about my sister, Elly. Each passing day was miserable without knowing how she was doing and where she was! I am sorry that I hurt you mom by leaving you behind with that creature who disguised himself as David. But now, I really need to go find the elder before he disappears once again and we miss the target again just like the evil witch,” Peter said and tried to convince his mother. But Sussan was not yet ready to accept his excuses. For her, he was the only son and she did not want him to get himself into anything dangerous which would result in something unimaginable.
