Chapter Six: Favors

1156 Words
It is friday. Vanesa has been enjoying her classes. She's leant a few things about her target and she was ready to make a move. Justin wasn't anywhere close to finding out about what happened at few mornings ago. "Hi, can you ask please call Justin for me?" Vanesa was talking to Max behind the breaches. She was very nervous about the whole thing. "Who should I say is asking for him?" Max asked amused. "Just tell him..." she was hesitant when Max interrupted her. "No need to tell me if you don't want. I'll call him for you." He grinned and walked away. Justin was busy speaking to two of his team mates about the upcoming test matches against rival schools. They were standing on the other side of the breaches. "I know you guys are knew and you probably nervous." The two boys nodded. "Good, nerves are good they sharpen your skills." "They sharpen you skills your skills with the girls too, right Jay?" Max interrupted him. Justin rolled his eyes. Max continued "Speaking of which, there is a girls asking for you back there. She looks odd. Not the type you usually go for." He elbowed Justin and winked. "See you on Monday boys." After saying that Justin walked to meet this girl. He was not in the mood for girls today. He decided that he will just listen to she wanted to say to her and then turn her down. He has built a reputation for himself. He host and attends parties. Girls throw themselves on him. His friends call him a 'chick magnet'. So he knew what this girl was going to say even before he left his friend. But today was not the day to mess around. He needed to find out what happened that morning. His thoughts got interrupted when he turned a corner and faced the girl. She looked beautiful. Had green eyes and curly red hair. She was wearing blue oversized jeans a black hoodie. The whole outfit looked liked it belonged to someone bigger and taller than her. He approached her. She spoke first "Hi, my name is Jersey. Nice to meet your." she raised her hand for a handshake. "I'm Justin." he shook her hand. That threw him off. He wondered why she sounded so formal. It was not what he expected at all. "I know." she smiled. "I know we don't know each other but I need a favor from you." "A fovor? What kind of favor?" maybe he was right, he thought. They all want the same things. He was preparing himself to turn her down. He didn't need the distraction right now. But she said something that made him stop and listen. "I have suddenly felt myself in need of a partner. You see, I figure skate. I've been doing it solo for a long time." she said nervously. She suddenly became more nervous. When they shook hands earlier she felt something. She wasn't sure what it was. She gathered herself. "So I need you to be my partner, I'll teach everything I know and at the end of the year we will have to enter a tournament." She wanted no surprises. She want him to know the reason why she was asking him. "Uhm, I'm kind of busy at the moment." He wanted to say yes but he's mind was not in the right place. "I know you're busy. I promise you that I won't get in the way." she begged him. "You're the only one who can help me." she added. He looked at her. There was something so mysterious about her eyes. He brushed his hair and shook it a little bit. "I'll help you with whatever you want as long as it won't be something I'm against." she begged again. She didn't expect him to resist. She thought he will take it as a challenge. Everything he learnt about him so far seemed to be wrong. "Okay. I'll do it." his response made her heart beat with excitement. "Thank you." she beamed with excitement. " Meet me at Square tomorrow around noon." He blinked a few times with shock. "Okay." Later that night Justin was laying on his bed thinking about the girl he met. He has never seen her before. She must be new. We wanted to know her more. There was something about her he couldn't shake. He eyes widened and he almost jumped off the bed "Wait." He said out loud. "She's new. Is she the source of what happened the other day?" he wondered. He didn't feel any magic from her. Even though he felt something when they touched hands. He fell asleep with one thing on his mind. "I have to make sure." The next morning Vanesa woke up very early and helped her mom with the house chores. She was in a very good mood and her mom notice. "You're shining brighter than than the diamond on finger. What happened?" her mom asked with a smile. "I decided to go back to training." Vanesa smiled back. She was excited for today. "I've for myself a partner." she added. They were in the kitchen preparing breakfast. Her dad was outside trying to look busy. Vanesa suspected her mom scolded him about spending too much time indoors. Her brothers were somewhere in the house doing whatever. She opened the fridge, took out the juice jar and put it on the breakfast table by the window. "Wow honey I'm so happy for you. Why didn't you tell me you decided to do that?" Jenn asked excitedly. She was happy for her daughter. When Vanesa asked to skate she was so supportive. She was only three years old. At five she joined a competition for toddlers and she got third place. She wanted to win so when she didn't she cried. Jenn instead encouraged her to try again. She told Vanesa that she should not think about winning instead she should have have. After that her daughter fell in love with skating. Sometimes she won first place and sometimes second place. She didn't enter every year though because they could stay in one place for too long so it was difficult to have stability. Vanesa looked around to check if they were still alone. This puzzled Jenn. She looked back at her mom and whispered. "It's Justin Königinnen." "Your brothers friend?" Jenn asked skeptical. That boy was not what she expected her daughter to partner with. "Yep." Vanesa answered with a nod. "Oh yes breakfast, yummy." Jake entered the kitchen followed by his brother's. Jenn was still shocked by this revelation. "Jake before you eat go and call your father." She wasn't going to say anything to her daughter for now. She wanted to discuss it with her husband in private but this was not the time and she had places to go to after breakfast.
