Chapter Seven: Deception

1020 Words
Justin's POV The next morning I woke up around nine. My room looked like a mess. At least that's what mom said so I had to clean it up. I was busy picking up clothes from the floor when I spotted something under the bed. I picked it up. It was a packet of condoms. Oh man I was happy it wasn't my mom who found them. She and dad made it clear that no girls were allowed in the house especially in our bedroom. My dad treats my brother and I like of his soldiers back at the navy. Work and home were the same to him. So I did what any "good" son would do. I shoved the packet in my underwear drawer. By the time I was done with cleaning my room, eating breakfast it was almost twelve. I was late. I hate being late. I picked up my keys from my room and ran to the garage. Got on my motorcycle, opened the garage door by pressing a button by the door. I pressed another button but from my key chain this time which opened the gate. I opened it enough for the me to go through then drove through. When I passed the gate I slowed, stopped and pressed the button again to close the gate. Then I drove like a maniac. By the time I got to the rink it was already fifteen minutes after twelve. I got off the bike bolted to Square. I got to the entrance and composed myself. I opened the door. Cool air hit me when I entered. It was quite. There was a security guy by the door. I greeted him and walked to the door to the rink. I looked around and there was no one. "Hello, is anyone here?" I listen for a response. "I watch horror movies. People you say what you just said die first." I looked to my left and there she was. She was coming from where the locker room was. She was wearing skinny jeans and a t-shirt. Her hair was in a tight ponytail. She walked to me and that is when I noticed her holding two pairs of skates. She handed me one. "Hi, I'm glad you came." she smiled. "Sorry for being late." I apologized. She looked at me "You're not late, you're right on time. I got here myself." "I hate being late. You said twelve and I am fifteen minutes late." She might not have a problem with it but I needed her to understand that it was not my intention. "No I said we should meet around twelve." she walked past me. "You would have been late if you got here at one." she added. "So today we just going to skate. I want to see you on ice. I want to have an idea of how we are going to work together. I've never had a partner before." "Okay, can I ask you something?" we sat down on the chairs next to to ice. Square is famous for hosting hockey games. I always come here with my friends when its hockey season. She put her left skate on "Shoot." she looked at me. Something was bothering me. "How did you know my size?" I asked. She blinked twice and her cheeks turned pink. She replied "I kind of stalked you for a few days." she looked embarrassed. I was shocked. "Wait what? You stalked me?" I didn't know if I should run and fell flattered. "I know it's sounds creepy but I wanted to know you without your knowledge. I'm sorry." she apologized with a nervous smile. I wasn't shocked that I was stalked but I wad shocked that I feel watched at all. I was used to girls slipping notes in my locker with out me knowing. There was a incident with a girl who tried to sneakily steal my phone but I caught. She thought I didn't see her watching me. She was right though I didn't see her but I felt her watching me. We had a party at Bon Lake last summer. I felt her watching me from behind a tree. She was well concealed. When I walked to the tree and confronted her. I told her that I saw her watching me for a while. She tried to make an excuse telling me that she like me. I gave her a bored look. She sighed and told me that she was paid by my brother to steal my phone so she hid behind the tree looking for an opportunity. When I confronted my brother he confessed. Apparently he was testing me. He wanted to see how aware of my surroundings I was. "Oh. I wasn't expecting that. Are you new to the school? I've never seen you before." "Yes. I apologize for making you feel uncomfortable." "Nah its okay. So let's play on ice." I teased. She laughed so hard. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. "Let's go. Don't break a leg please." "Oh man I hope that doesn't happen." we walked to the ice. She stepped on it first. "Let me hold your hand?" I took her hand and followed her on the ice. The moment I stepped on the ice I played a fool and acted like I've never been on ice. I let my legs slip a bit and held her hand so tight. She slid and faced me. "Here take my other hand. Relax Mr Quarterback." she giggles. "Not yet." "Huh?" she asked. "I'm not the quarterback yet. My friend James is." I said still pretending to slip. "Oh man this is harder than I thought." "Look keep your legs straight and..." we both fell on the ice. I did not intend to. I was straightening my self when suddenly I actually lost my footing and hit my knee hard on the ice. I felt pain and instinctively set rolled myself to a sitting position with my leg flat and my hand went to hold my knee. "Oh no are you okay?"
