“This is so exciting!" Ruby squealed as she gazed out the window.
Staring ahead, I smiled. She was in a better mood than she was last night. After we left her apartment to go back to my hotel, she'd been quiet. Pensive. Clearly, something was bothering her, but she changed the subject every time I asked her what was wrong.
I knew it had something to do with that man at her door. It killed me not to dig and demand she tell me who the hell he really was. If I did that, it would contradict my whole we're-just-having-fun-together attitude, wouldn't it? It would look like I cared too much…which I did.
