I knew we weren't alone. That's why I left him there. Tessy is not the kind of person to adhere to instructions, especially in cases like this.

I wonder how my Lucia is doing.

Imagine, he couldn't even fight me.. What a waste. I completely lost appetite. He looks like someone ready to die already.

Tessy must think that I am a horrible person now, but who cares? No one messes with the only woman I care about.

TESSY Pov

Talking angrily to Danny, how can you be so stupid, eh?

He said you should follow him and you did. I guess you don't love your life. Imagine if I hadn't followed you guys, you probably would have died there.

Tessy to the taxi driver, please drive faster, he is losing a lot of blood.

Taxi Driver; nodding "Ok madam".

They took Danny to a different hospital while Tessy took his phone and called his father, paid the taxi driver off and rushed to go and check on Lucia. When she got to the ward where Lucia was kept, she saw Mike holding her hands muttering things she couldn't decipher. After watching for some time, she walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder.

TESSY; "Boss, how is she doing" she asked and watched as he slowly raised his head, probably to see who it was that tapped him. Smiling " Sorry I went out briefly to get something for my aunt. How is she? Has she regained consciousness yet? You know, like, opening her eyes. She started babbling.

Mike, looking at her, not believing how much a drama queen she can be, then decided to play along. " Yes Tess, she is fine now ". The doctor said she will be discharged when she becomes strong enough and her mind has stabilized. She keeps waking and drifting back to sleep. She is too hurt Tess. I wish I acted up on time. I wish I had told her how I felt rather than watch her walk into this relationship that landed her heart". His mind went back to the time he walked into her private ward, still raging in anger, which disappeared the moment he stepped in and found her awake. He smiled and walked up to her, hugging her like forever. He rubbed her back when he sensed her sobbing and whispered that it's well now Lucia. I promise not to see you get hurt again. I will always protect you. Everything you need in life, it's all yours. It pained him to see her sad and looking into her eyes drove him over the edge with regret." I am sorry for all you have been through, it's all my fault" he said.

Lucy, looking at him questioningly, "What is it your fault?. I was the stupid one. I am always unlucky when it comes to men. They keep on hurting me endlessly, forgetting that it's only one heart I have and I don't have magical powers to endure pain". She starts sobbing quietly

Mike, still robbing her back, " That's because I allowed it to happen. If I had told you from the onset that I love you, all of this would have been avoided. I was so scared and didn't want to loose. You should if you don't feel the same way for me". He tilted her face up so she could look at him " I have loved you from day one, Lucia. I was happy to remain in the background as long as you were happy, but you constantly kept on coming back broken. Then I thought maybe I should be a shoulder to lean on in your times of pain. It hurts me seeing you hurt Lucia. In fact, it drives me crazy". He didn't know when a tear escaped and was shocked when Lucia touched him to wipe it off. "Am sorry, I didn't mean to upset you.

Lucia held his hands and pulled him into a hug. " Am sorry for causing you so much emotional trauma. I honestly had a crush on you but had to divert it elsewhere because I didn't think I fit into your description of an idle woman" She smiled as he looked up at her in shock, melting her heart. He wanted to but she used her finger to hush him, "I'm not done", she told him. I thought you were into sophisticated ladies because I have seen you look at a few.

Mike; Now beaming with smiles, he couldn't believe it. His life-long crush has actually had the same crush on him. How is it that all of the people didn't find out? Damn! has lost words now. He just hugged her tightly and whispered "thank you " into her ears. I love you so much Lucia. I have always loved you. Let's get you back to health and I promise not to let anyone or anything hurt you" he said.

Lucy; "Thanks for not giving up on me " she said before drifting off to sleep. Mike lowered her down on the bed, still not believing what he heard, before going out to call the doctor.

Back to the present!

Tessy, smiling, "Alright Boss, I will be right back. Need to grab something to eat before I faint, care for one? " she asked, looking at him, not knowing what the answer would be and probably regretting it.

Mike ; Now laughing, " Yeah Tess, why not? Thanks for your concern, support and care, by the way. Your type is rare". He said

TESSY ; "Sure will be right back ". She left after collecting money from her boss. She couldn't stop wondering what could have calmed her boss, who was boiling a few hours ago. I am actually missing something here. Did he finally express his feelings to her when she woke up?

I know my boss very well, just seeing her awake wouldn't have done the magic, something must be up. I have watched him console her countless times and drown himself in alcohol the moment she leaves. At times I have personally wondered what sort of stupid love this is and had even wished not to fall in love. Which kind yeye love is it that you can't open up to tell a woman you have loved for long that you would rather you end up beating yourself each time she comes back hurt?. I am not fit. God will not allow me to suffer in the name of love mbanu, oma nme, she laments.

Don't get me wrong, I admire the level of love my boss has for Lucia, but I can't love no one that way. I am not as strong as he is. I can't endure being rejected or ignored. I can't even endure hearing someone I am crushing on telling me about his love history. I will f*****g die of envy and jealousy. Lucia is just one lucky baby to have a man that cares about her and loves her deeply and is even willing to wait for her to see him. She is a lucky b***h! I pray she gets better soon before my Boss kills someone. I walked out of the hospital, waved down a taxi and told him to take me to the nearest restaurant and we took off. I had to make the taxi driver wait, since I would just grab the food and go back to the hospital. I made my way to the lady selling the food to ask what they had, since I didn't have any in mind and my boss didn't specify the type of food he wanted.

TESSY; to the lady in charge of the restaurant, " Good afternoon miss, I need a takeout. What kind of delicacies do you have?" she asked.

Sale's girl; "listing what they have " Good afternoon madam, we have fried rice, soups like afan, egusi, okra, oha, vegetable..... She was interrupted by Tess, who told her to give her two takeouts of Okazi soup, and two of vegetable soup with semo. She thought of the two broken people before deciding they needed a lot of blood. She waited as the sales girl packaged everything, not excluding water, then paid and left. On her way, she stopped at the hospital where Danny was admitted and dropped a takeout for him with water. Soon she arrived at the hospital where Lucia was and dropped their own food for them and left to eat hers. Oh! What a day! All this drama in one day. My boss is trying. I wonder if he has even grabbed some rest since I left. He just can't stop stirring at Lucy while she is sleeping. I can sense happiness now, looking like a teenager. I wonder if he even noticed that It was I that dropped the food. He just said thank you and wouldn't even look at me. Poor me, poor TESSY, born to witness all this drama, she signs!.
