Frank's suggestion to visit Luke lingered in my mind. Before I met with Luke, I did some research on him.
He was a novelist who shot to fame three years ago with his gripping suspense novel, Crimson Moonlight, but he hadn't published anything noteworthy recently.
Three years felt like a crucial time frame.
My instincts told me that something significant must've happened between Luke and Frank back then.
I read Crimson Moonlight again.
The murder scenes struck me as shockingly realistic as though the writer had witnessed them firsthand.
This led me to a theory.
Since Luke had never been married, he certainly wouldn't fit Frank's pattern of targeting unfaithful men.
Yet, Frank had gone after him.
Maybe Luke had seen something he shouldn't have.
For instance, perhaps Luke had caught a glimpse of one of the murder scenes.
With this thought in mind, I tried visiting Luke's studio several times to interview him, but his assistant turned me away repeatedly.
Still, my efforts weren't entirely in vain.
I learned from Luke's assistant that he was planning to hold a fan meet-and-greet.
Suddenly, I realized I had stumbled upon an opportunity to finally meet Luke.
