Lancelotte Cueva's heart transplant was a success, yet he finds it impossible to be happy. The man whose heart gave him a second chance at life, Jacob, died in a tragic accident. His grief soon turns into burning hatred after discovering that Jacob's girlfriend was responsible for his death.

Determined to get revenge, Lancelotte goes after Santiara—the woman he holds accountable. But the more he gets to know her, the more he finds himself falling for the very person he swore to hate. Then an unexpected one-night stand changes everything, making it even harder for him to walk away.

Can a heart consumed by vengeance learn to forgive, or will love be sacrificed in the name of justice?

CHAPTER 1
Santiara ignored every man, trying to catch her attention. Tonight, she wanted only one thing—to drink until the pain finally disappeared. “Life's already punishing me. If I end up dying tonight, at least let me enjoy myself first.” She raised her hand toward the bartender. “Hey, bartender! Give me another drink. Make it strong—the kind that makes me forget everything.” The bartender couldn't help but laugh. “You're already drunk, ma'am. I don't think you'll even be able to walk home.” She shot him an annoyed look. “I'm not going home. Just give me another drink.” The bartender scratched the back of his neck before giving in. Without another word, he poured her another drink. A few minutes later, the room began spinning around her. Santiara was completely intoxicated. As she stood up, her knees nearly gave out beneath her. She caught herself on a nearby bar stool before she could fall. “I'm okay,” she muttered when the bartender tried to help her. “Just a little dizzy.” Even though she could barely keep her balance, Santiara decided to leave the bar. But before she could reach the exit, two men stepped in front of her, blocking her way. “Miss, let us take you wherever you want to go.” Santiara narrowed her eyes at them. “What? Do I look stupid? Just by looking at your faces, I can already tell you're up to no good.” The man with a nose ring burst into laughter. “Playing hard to get, huh? Come on. We're fun to be with. We'll give you a ride straight to heaven.” The stocky man reached for her arm but Santiara immediately pulled away and slapped him across the face. ‘Don't even think about it! I may be drunk, but I'm still in my right mind. Now move—ah!” She cried out as the man with the nose ring grabbed her arm and dragged her toward the exit. “You b***h! Get over here!” Santiara struggled with everything she had. She kicked, twisted, and fought back as the two men dragged her outside the bar. They were about to force her into a black van when a deep, commanding voice echoed behind them. “What's going on here?” The two men instantly froze. “Uh... no-nothing, Boss,” one of them stammered. “She's just being stubborn. We were only trying to take her home. Right, Tianggo?” “H-Huh? Yeah... that's right, Boss.” The man loosened his grip on Santiara's arm and tried to shove her inside the van. Without hesitation, she bit his ear. “Damn it!” the man screamed in pain as he shoved her away. “You jerk!” Santiara yelled. “Since when did I become your sister? You were trying to kidnap me!” The newcomer watched the scene with an icy expression. Rage flickered across his face. With a simple wave of his hand, one of his men stepped forward. Without saying a word, the newcomer ordered him to deal with the two men. Within seconds, the two men were forced onto their knees before fists and kicks rained down on them mercilessly. “I've warned you before,” the stranger said, his voice cold and unwavering. As he slowly slipped on a pair of black leather gloves. “I don't tolerate troublemakers.” “B-Boss... please believe us!” one of them begged. “We're telling the truth!” “I'm not blind.” His voice was calm. Too calm. He drew the handgun tucked behind his back. Santiara felt her entire body stiffen. Before she could even blink—Gunshots shattered the silence. Both men collapsed to the ground, motionless. Dead. Santiara's hands flew over her mouth as her eyes widened in horror. Every trace of alcohol instantly disappeared from her system. “W-What... what did you do?” His cold gaze settled on her. “I got rid of them,” he answered emotionlessly. “No one else will make the same mistake.” Fear filled Santiara's eyes. For the first time that night, she truly looked at the man standing before her. He was tall, well-built, and dressed in black from head to toe. There wasn't a trace of panic on his face. As though taking a life meant nothing to him. He stepped closer. “Wanna come with me?” His deep voice remained calm. “This place is crawling with dangerous people, Miss.” Santiara swallowed hard before giving him a hesitant nod. Somehow, despite watching him kill two men without hesitation... She felt safer standing beside him than being left alone.
