Chapter 7: Mr. Nice Guy Part 1

I was packing my husband's carry-on, he was going on a seven-day conference in Ironside, I smiled because I remembered Lear, he was nice to me when I was homeless. I fell in love with him, but it wasn't meant to be, I wished things were different between us and would have loved to see how far that relationship would have gone. I was taken out of my thoughts when Barry walked in, rolling his sleeves up to his elbow, he looked at me and smiled, I turned to him and started buttoning his shirt, inhaling his cologne. He was so sexy and smelled good, he leaned in, kissed me, and whispered, "You should come with me," I pulled back and said, "Ironside is not for me." He said, "They have the best orphanages there, we could look to adopt," I looked at him because I knew about orphanages, and it would be nice to give a child a loving home, but I feared Barry would hurt any kid we adopt.
I smiled and said, "We can talk about it when you get back," he backed away, took up his car keys, and said, "I will miss you and be good." He left the room and forgot his phone, I picked it up to run out and meet him when it slipped out of my hand, I saw messages popping up, "Hey baby, I am at the resort already, shout me when you get in, or are you bringing that husband of yours?" my heart skipped a beat when I heard a voice say, "Hey babe, did you see my phone?" I froze with it in my hand, he looked at me and walked toward me slowly, his face changed, and I backed away as he took it realizing I saw the messages. Barry smirked and held out his hand to mine, calling me over, he said, "It's not what you think," but I turned around to run into the bathroom and Barry grabbed me, and pushed my head to the wall by the bathroom door, yelling, "Why are you running from me?"
He spun me around and said, "Get dressed, you are going with me," my heart was beating fast, and my hands shook, he looked at them and asked, "Why are you always scared of me?" I said, "I am not, you just startled me, I am not going, you can have fun with whoever that is," then I saw black. I woke up in a warm soft bed, my face hurt and I knew Barry had knocked me out, I got up and realized I was on a plane. I heard footsteps and closed my eyes, he sat next to me and said, "I know you are awake, I am sorry about earlier, Grady and I, are meeting for business, I know the messages are inappropriate but I will deal with it." I didn't look at him as I felt tears again because I love Barry, but he thought I was stupid. He lay next to me, pulling me to his chest, sighed, and said, "I did sleep with him, it was a mistake, I was trying to fix it, I promise you it was one time, and he meant nothing to me, but he is doing business with the company."
I woke up to the plane landing, I didn't know when I drifted off to sleep, Barry was not in bed with me and I waited until he came and got me. He touched my busted lip, whispering a spell to hide my bruise like he always does if we go out, I never learned to fight, I always ran from danger, but I couldn't leave Barry. He would find me, he had that much power, I did everything to keep him happy, and I held his hand as we walked through the airport heading to the limo he had waiting for us. I saw how everyone in the airport watched us, he was a man with money and his aura was that of an Alpha, his designer clothes and shoes, his well-groomed face and chiseled tone body, and he stood at six-three in height. Barry kept his head up, telling the limo driver where to go as he proudly wore my mark and wedding ring, I could feel his aura comforting me, making me feel safe as an Omega wanting the protection of his Alpha.
Omegas were rare in Ravena, especially men, most Omegas were women and very fertile, they were high-priced on the black market along with nymphs. We reached the hotel, the conference was being held near there and Barry told me, "You could hang out here or go shopping as long as I know where you are at all times." I agreed as he pulled me in for a kiss and said, "I am sorry, I shouldn't have hit you, I love you, I promised to be better," I nodded leaning my head on his shoulder, he said, "I didn't cheat on you, you need to believe that." I kissed him saying, "Make love to me," he did not hesitate as we ended up in bed together missing the first day of the conference where he was supposed to meet his friends and allies.

Prince Rowe
I was attending the conference in place of my father, King Barron, or should I say, my uncle, he raised me, but I preferred to call him Dad. I had my beautiful fiancé along for the trip, and she loved it, we landed, and while she was exploring the hotel, I met with Prince Lawrence. I met him in the lobby, and we went into a private office, it was his uncle's hotel, and we were going over the treaty, I signed it on behalf of my father and we shook hands. Lear looked at me and asked, "Can I ask a favor, Rowe?" I nodded for him to go on, and he said, "I want a list of all the wolves living in your area," I was confused, and he smiled telling me about his mate, so I decided to get the list to him once I returned home. We ended up at a bar having a few drinks when we saw an Alpha walk in, he didn't look pleased, he ended up speaking with one of Roman's men, and we got up to leave until Lear looked back and said, "His scent seemed familiar," before he walked out with me.
Yesterday went by pretty quickly, and we were finally heading down to the conference, we had a car pick us up heading to the venue. Davina wanted to visit the city and I promised her we would do it before our trip here ended, and she held my hand excitedly. We were led to our seats, and I saw Axel, Roman's Beta, who smiled at me and I smiled back because I wasn't scared of him. I saw Alpha Seth's Beta Kevin with a few of his men representing their pack and a few other allies and enemies were in attendance, I signed the treaty with Prince Lawrence yesterday and everything went smoothly. We broke for lunch, and I was speaking with my beautiful fiancé when Beta Axel pulled a chair and sat facing us. I saw Lawrence out of the corner of my eye, looking concerned, because they were a small group of Shifters, and wants to keep things as simple and neutral as possible.
They couldn't afford an attack by King Roman and I knew that, so I kept my anger in check; he said, "Prince Rowe, it's finally nice to meet the long-lost son of King Roman." I said, "Say it a little louder, as it would go in everyone's favor eventually," he looked at Davina, who felt uneasy around him, so I held her hand calming her down. He said, "She is a beautiful little Elf, maybe she would like to have a little fun," and offered her a dance at the little ball tonight, she said, "No, thank you." I smiled, saying, "Listen good, I don't like you or my sperm donor and that's okay but don't you ever hit on my girlfriend again, or I will forget that you are a Royal Beta and end you, little wolf," my eyes flicked color because Haakon didn't like the disrespect. He smiled and said, "See you soon," before walking back to his table of misfits, Davina was not scared, but she knew how I got when someone tried to disrespect her.
She turned my face toward her, kissing me, I melted with her touch and smiled, saying, "We needed to head back inside, so let's finish lunch," We ate without any more problems and then headed back inside, I stopped to speak to King Pele, who was surprisingly here, and he wanted to get a meeting with Barron and I told him, "We can talk after the conference ends for the day." Davina was standing next to me when we started hearing shots, I pulled her as we ducked down, the machine gun was going off and the screams were loud in the room. I knew I was hit, but it would heal eventually, I waited until everything stopped and had Davina on the ground under me, but she wasn't moving. I panicked because there was so much blood and I roared in anger, looking around for that son-of-a-b***h, Axel.
