Today was the day! Rowan and Yulia were moving into their new home, leaving the refuge and taking the next step forward with their lives. At least, that was the way that the refuge staff and residents were treating it, and Rowan was trying to be jolly along with them.
The trouble was that it didn’t feel like this move was really a step forward; it was more like a step sideways. In Rowan’s mind it would be a step forward only if it was Perin moving with her, his court case settled and him being found innocent, with them forging a way forward together.
Even so, it was nice to know that she would have her own private space again, and be able to use the kitchen and bathroom whenever she felt like it instead of having to be mindful of others.
