Alpha's Mysterious Luna.

21 Alexander

As soon as I close the door, I sigh. I'm glad I decided to take the week of the ceremony off of work. Although I would have taken time off to be with Seraphine either way.

So much has happened in the last few days and there are only three days left until the blood moon. Eclipse ceremonies are always special but this will be a little bit different, and with Seraphine’s arrival I want everything to go smoothly.

Adrian starts dancing around in my head. He's been awake in my head every moment since our mates arrival, learning every detail he can about her. He's been so excited, you'd think he's a pup the way he keeps talking about her.

I can't blame him, Seraphine can just look at me and I feel like a kid again, with my heart pounding and my palms sweaty.

If Seraphine was a wolf she and Adrian would have already met each other's wolves and spent some time together, and probably wouldve already, mated and marked each other. So I feel like they need to do this as soon as possible, she is his mate too and they need to bond.

Adrian and I have always gotten along well. I give him as much time and freedom in this body I can. He spends most of the rest of his time snoozing in my head unless something requires his attention.

Right now he just keeps chanting ‘Seraphine my mate’, ‘Seraphine my mate’. I smile. “Yes buddy Seraphine our mate.” I open my office door and look around for a moment and wonder if I should Get Seraphine a desk for in here. She might need a space to work after she’s more involved in pack business.

As an Alpha it was unusual to give your Luna a desk in your work office, but then I could be close to her while I'm working from home. Which I am going to do more often now.

I know we can't always be together, but that doesn't mean I won't try anyway I can to have her near me.

Adrian continues his chanting, ‘Seraphine my mate’, 'Seraphine my mate’. I smile and sit down at my desk and ask Adrian to quiet down so I can make a call.

I grab the phone and dial the Office in San Francisco. Sam one of my partners picks up, and I say, “Hey Sam, it's Alex. I'm just checking in. How are things going?”

Sam chuckles, as though he was expecting me to call. “Hey Alex, we're doing pretty good. Picked up a couple of new clients, and we won yesterdays case. We are holding the fort down, till you're back. How is the vacation going?" Sam asks.

I laugh and say, “Well it is not much of a vacation when you're working at home, but I'm definitely keeping busy.”

Sam laughs again, and says, “Yeah I figured as much. You'll have to tell me about it when you get back. You sound, different. Dare I say happy even.”

I laugh again, and tell him, "You've always had a good ear Sam. I'll definitely fill you in when I'm back. Thanks." I say my goodbyes and hang up.

I sigh looking down at the paperwork in front of me. Adding Flint, to the ceremony will be easy. Malekai’s sister Alearea and her mate Joshua will be joining us as well along with Sadie and Leah, their fifteen year old twin daughters.

Malekai’s father had died some years ago and it was just him, his mother, and his sister Aleara. Aleara lives with her mate in the Silver Moon pack. After their twins were born she and Joshua come and visit Malekai and their mother often, and now they just felt like making the visits permanent.

Alearea's mate Joshua's parents passed on last year and now that their girls are older it just feels right to them. They will be breaking bonds with their old pack at the eclipse and joining us for good.

My immediate problem is working an entire Luna ceremony into it as well. An eclipse ceremony usually only lasted about an hour at most. We pray to the moon goddess, invite in any new members, and then receive any gifts she wishes to bless us with.

A Luna ceremony on its own takes time. I will have to run it by my mother for some advice. I want this to be special for Seraphine. My mother has always been excellent at figuring these kinds of things out. She loved working out the ceremonies when she was Luna.

I make the necessary additions to the paper work and then I sit thinking for a few moments looking out the window when Adrian starts chanting again. ‘Seraphine my mate’ he sings in our head. I sigh. He's right, we've been away from her long enough.

Though I'm looking at the clock on the wall and I see it's really only been twenty minutes. I just want to be back with Seraphine again. I want to pull her into my lap and bury my face in her neck. And do other things to her. Adrian growls at my thoughts. Damn. Ok snap out of it.

I wonder if my father had such a hard time being away from my mother, when they were newly mated. I'd have to ask him when he returns from his trip.

I get out of my chair and leave my office, closing the door behind me.

I link Dr. Baldwin and let him know I'll be there in a few minutes to check on Jackson. "If you wish, but I regret to inform you Alpha that Gamma Jackson passed away only moments ago in his sleep. He was never able to regain consciousness. His mate and Flint are both here. I have informed his father. Their is nothing that could be done, his body was too damaged to heal itself. I'm extraordinarily sorry Alpha. However there is another matter than has arisen and I think you should be present." Dr. Baldwin says and then ends our link.

I mind link Brick and the boys and let them know about Jackson. I can't believe this pack has lost another Gamma. This is going to be hard on everyone. Jackson was loved by many.

I mind link Malekai and let him know about Jackson. We talk for a few minutes about it and then I let him know I am taking Seraphine out to meet Adrian and we would meet up with he and Angie afterwards.

“Good Angie can't wait to give Seraphine her present.” Malekai says.

"I bet. Hey would you mind getting the jeep out and pulling it around to the front of the house for me? The place I’m taking Seraphine to is too far for her to walk.” I ask him.

As always Malekai is on top of it. "Yeah, no problem bro. I'll have it ready." he says.

I run as quickly as I can over to the hospital. As I am walking in Lexi Jackson's mate is leaving. Wen she sees me she begins to cry.

"Lexi, I'm so sorry. Is there anything I can do?" I ask her.

She shakes her head and says, "No Alexander, there is nothing you can do. There's nothing anyone can do. I wanted to tell you that I'll be leaving tomorrow and I won't be coming back. I'm going to go stay with my sister. I'm sorry I can't stay here without Jackson." Lexi says

"We'll be sad to see you go. Let me know if you need anything." I say to her sadly.

I walk into the hospital and I see Dr. Baldwin and Flint talking in the hallway. I walk in and ask Dr. Baldwin whats going on.

"In the event that Jackson didn't make it, I was to give you both these." He says handing Flint and I each a folded piece of paper. We both open our pieces of paper. Mine has only a few lines of written words on it.

Jackson wrote; "I was always proud to be this packs Gamma. Thank you for this Amazing life. None of you could have prevented this, the Oracle saw it coming years ago, and I made my peace with it. I want you to put Flint in my place. He might be young but he has what it takes to replace me. See you on the other side Alexander.

I fold the paper back up and put it in my pocket.

"If you don't mind Flint what does yours say?" I ask him politely.

Flint hands me the paper. It says; "Flint, always remember you are your father's son, but you are your own man too. I know you have what it takes. I wish we had more time to get to know each other. Here's the combination to your new life. Live it well, Jackson." there is a sequence of six numbers at the bottom.

"I don't really understand." Flint says to me as I hand the paper back to him.

"This is the combination to your new room Flint. As difficult as it will be for everyone, you are now the Gamma of this pack. Jackson named you as his replacement, and even in death I trust his judgment. Do you accept?" I ask him.

He stares at me stunned for a few minutes. "I- Uh, Yes. Yes I accept." He says.

"Jacksons mate Lexi will be moving out tomorrow, after that, it belongs to you." I tell him.

"I have to get back to the packhouse. Flint we'll talk later." I say and nod at him. He nods back and I quickly exit the hospital.

I run home as quick as I can. As shaken up as I am about Jackson I try and push it aside for now, I don't want to ruin Seraphine and Adrian's first date.

I get to our room and open the door. Seraphine is already showered and dressed. She sees me and she smiles, her eyes lighting up.

She sets down her hair brush and walks towards me. Damn she's beautiful. I quickly close the gap between us and wrap my arms around her, breathing in her scent.

All of a sudden I hear her voice in my head, A soft, sexy whisper, "Are you all mine now?" Seraphine asks me.

Surprised I gasp. "Yes my Love." I answer her back through the link. “Good, that was fast.” She says this time out loud, slipping her arms around my neck, and looking into my eyes.

“Really? Because I feel like I was gone too long.” I tell her, and lean down to gently kiss her, holding her tight.

Seraphine backs up and looks at me. "Are you okay?" She asks me, and I tell her about Jackson. "Alexander I'm so sorry. Is there anything I can do?" She asks.

"Yes let me and Adrian take you on this date, so I can keep my mind off of it for a while." I say to her seriously.

"If that's what you want." Seraphine says, kissing me again deeply.

After a few seconds Adrian growls low, causing us to break apart. Seraphine giggles. "Ok Adrian, you're right." She says softly.

This time in response he makes a noise more like a purr. Seraphine giggles again. I sigh, a bit sorry I am technically losing the afternoon with my mate. “I guess we should get going.” I say and smile at her.

‘Yes, my time with our mate.’ Adrian says. When we get outside Malekai had left the jeep with the top off waiting for us out front, as promised.

We climb inside and take off enjoying the drive. Since it’s nearly summer it turned out to be a warm day, which made the spot I chose perfect. There is a waterfall, Adrian and I found, with a pool beneath it deep enough to swim.

I am lost in a thought for a moment, when Seraphine asks, “Alexander we’re in the middle of the redwood forest right? How is it that people don't run across the pack house or the grounds?”

I smile, and say, “On a map, the area that encompasses the pack house, hospital, training grounds, All the way back to the lake is a government posted wolf preserve. Our warriors are always out in different rotations patrolling, they all have different areas they cover, and they're always shifted into their wolves, while they patrol. When humans ignore the signs and fencing, and cross the posted borders, we make sure they see wolves. It keeps most people out of the area since the forest around us is so dense."

She laughs and I realize how much I love the sound. “Yeah I bet they see wolves, big wolves.” She says laughing again.

I slow down, laughing too, as we reach our destination. Seraphine looks around, her eyes light up. “Alexander, this is beautiful.” she says climbing out of the car.

I grab a blanket out of the back of the jeep and toss it in the grass. Glad again its warm, I take off my clothes and throw them in the back.

I walk around the side of the car and ask her if she's ready. She turns to me and seeing my lack of clothes says, “Mmmm, yes please.”

I give her a sexy smile. I wrap my arms around her and say. "I'll see you in a little while my Love." She nods her head and I let her go and take a step back. “Okay Adrian, we want her to be impressed." I say to him seriously.

I take a few steps away from the car and I ask her again if she is ready. She shakes her head excitedly. I let go of control and Adrian shifts into his wolf.
