Chapter1
As I walked into AshMoon College with a smile on my face, I couldn't help but admire the beautiful interior of the school. The hallways were filled with incredible werewolves training really hard, making me wish I could be one of them. However, as an omega who didn't know how to fight using her wolf, I felt like an outsider.
Despite my efforts to hide my status as an omega, my eyes' distinct color would always give me away, especially during tests. Today, being my first day of college, I tried to brighten my smile and headed towards my class.
My phone pinged, and a reminder showed that today was my birthday. I couldn't help but scoff. Aside being weak, I never had friends, and therefore, no one to wish me on my birthday.
Oh, but except one...
"Happy birthday, Jane!" A baritone voice rang behind me, startling me.
"Vincent!?" I blurted out, a grin spreading on my lips.
Vincent was my best friend since my time at the orphanage. He had been there for me during my struggles to raise money for my mother's surgery and bills after her terrible accident.
Although Vincent caught my eye, my heart was set on meeting his stepbrother whom I had grown fond of through the pictures Vincent had shown me. My heart was drawn to him and I couldn't help but feel a strong attraction towards him.
"Meet me after class, okay?" Vincent's voice drew me back to reality. I nodded, hugged him, and he left.
With my books in hand, I made my way towards the class I'd receive lycanthropy lessons, or so I thought.
Stepping through the doorway, I came face to face with an empty class, no sign of any activity going on. "Oh, there seems to be an error here...."
My voice trailed off when I heard the sound of rustling pages of a book. I turned to the direction o the sound and my eyes fell on a hooded masculine figure sitting alone at a corner.
He had to be the most handsome guy I've ever met. I couldn't help myself as I kept sneaking glances at him. And damn, he's got this messy dark hair that falls perfectly over his forehead.
He was totally into this book he was reading, turning the pages with these long, slender fingers. It's like he's caressing the words, feeling all the hidden stories in there.
He appeared deeply engrossed in his reading, and although I was tempted to approach him, his aloof demeanor gave me pause. His charming looks could easily make a girl swoon, and I found myself blushing.
For a moment I considered approaching him. The attraction I felt towards him was way too intense.
As I took a step forward in the classroom, I heard something that stopped me in my tracks.
"Don't even dare!" the guy objected, his voice husky. It made my heart sink.
Hold on, he knew I'd been staring all this while?! s**t, I felt shy.
Suddenly he turned his gaze on me, his brows furrowed, his cold, piercing stare sending shivers down my spine like I'd offended him.
I quickly looked away, cheeks red from embarrassment. "I'm sorry," I muttered and walked swiftly away, wondering what sort of person he was and why his blue eyes seemed familiar, yet I couldn't help but keep thinking of his eyes that had pierced my heart.
Shaking my head, I left without saying a word and tried to find my correct class. However, before I could fully remember, I realized that I needed to go to the registrar's office to finalize my enrollment.
"Good morning ma'am," I greeted when I entered the office. I could see a girl by her side, her legs crossed, looking all vintage.
The registrar offered me a sit before passing over some papers to me to sign. I noticed I was assigned to Moon Hall dorm. I called for her attention. "Excuse me, I see that I'm assigned to Moon Hall. Where's that?"
"Moon Hall?" The girl, who was by her side asked, turning to look at me. "Wow, we're roommates!"
I gasped, and she stretched her hands for an handshake. "I'm Kate, and you are... Jane, right? Figured out when you signed," she smiled as I shook her hands.
She seemed really nice, smiling all along, and though she looked vintage, her words seemed nice. I also assumed she was wealthy based on her appearance.
"So you're off to lycanthropy class, right?" she asked, already knowing the answer as I nodded.
As we walked, we saw a student striding majestically like royalty. She was quite beautiful except that she made too much effort, and students gazed at her like they had seen a celebrity.
With a scoff, Kate looked at them and said, "Ignore her. She always acts like she's in charge because she's dating the popular alpha, Mike. He might be the strongest in the school, but he's a notorious player and not someone you want to mess with," she explained.
We then went into class and I sat next to Kate. As the professor started teaching, a strong scent of strawberries hit my nostrils. I didn't even realize when I closed my eyes, immersed in the calming, floral, fruity fragrance, distracting me from the lesson.
I sniffed severally, tracing the scent. I stopped where the concentration seemed higher and opened my eyes to see a guy standing outside the window. His eyes shone red, telling me he was an Alpha.
"Mate," I heard a deep growl at the back of my head. I wanted turning back but realized it was my wolf's growl.
Mate? I couldn't describe the joy I felt - I'd finally found my mate! I shrugged, stood up and took permission to leave class.
"Where are you going?" Kate whispered, curious.
"I'll be back," I assured her.
This felt like the happiest day of my life. I never thought that I'd get a mate. I peered out the window to catch a glimpse of my mate, but no one was there. Strange.
As I stepped out, someone grabbed me, dragging me into an empty room and slamming me against a wall.
My wolf repeated "Mate" again, jumping with joy within me.
However, my mood changed when the person standing before me was none other than the boy from the wrong class, staring at me with an icy glare.
Despite his cuteness, which should have been irresistible, and the familiarity on his face, I didn't mind and started to smile, wanting to speak. But he cut me off with something so unexpected.
"I, Mike Robert, reject you as my mate omega. Please accept that I cannot be mated to a weak omega," he bellowed looking very serious.
His words broke me a little. I couldn't believe he wanted to reject me as his mate, though he was a playboy. I had already been happy to have found my mate and was ready to accept him.
I instantly felt angry. "I, Jane, refuse to accept your rejection. Take it or leave it," I declared in a loud voice, my anger rising.
He forcefully shoved me to the ground with a furious expression on his face.
"So that means you don't have a problem seeing your mate with a lot of girls, huh?" He asked, clenching his fists and pressing them against my chin. I winced and pulled his hands away. "I am a player, and I cannot commit to just one person, especially not someone who as weak as an omega. So, reject me now!"
I couldn't believe this handsome jerk was capable of hurting someone. But then again, what did I expect from a cheat? Was he really a playboy, or was he just saying that to make me accept his rejection? Either way, I wasn't going to fall for it. He could dream on.
As I was about to storm out in anger, I noticed Vincent walking in. "Mike, you....!" I heard him curse as he walked in, and his expression suggested that he too was upset.
Or that was what I thought at first, because upon seeing me, he relaxed his fists and his expression softened. "Jane?"
"Hey there, bro!" He greeted Mike before turning his attention to me, taking my hand as we left the room.
"That's my stepbrother, Jane. You know, the guy you've been crushing on and wanting to see" Vincent dropped a bombshell, causing a lump to form in my throat.
"So you're saying that my childhood crush, who happens to be your stepbrother, is my mate?" I exclaimed, feeling surprised.
