SUNDAY MORNING CHRIS and Mickey once again slept a bit late. Over breakfast, Mickey said, “What shall we do today?”
“I’d like to do two things.”
“What two things?”
“One of them is something I haven’t done in a very long time, and the other is something I’ve never done—at least not here in Jacksonville.”
“Chris! What two things?”
“I want to go to church. There’s a ten o’clock service at Tom’s church, and we’ve got time to get cleaned up and make it. After that, I’d like for us to come home, change clothes, and go take a walk on the beach.”
“Do you know where the church is?”
“Sure. It’s at Park and Stockton Streets, near Five Points.”
“Then we’d better get our asses in gear.”
“Right you are.”
