IN THE CAR, MICKEY turned to Chris. “I have a question… well, two questions, maybe.”
“Ask.”
“With your friends at the restaurant, and just now with your boss, you neglected to mention the changed status of our relationship. After last night I thought you’d be telling everyone.”
“I’m not ready to share you with the world at large—not just yet. However, I’m going to do my best to organize a little dinner party for everyone Saturday night. They all like Biscottis, and it’ll be a great place to make the announcement.”
“Oh, good. I was afraid you’d had a change of heart.”
“Don’t be silly, Mickey O’Donovan. I’ve waited too long for this to give it up so easily.”
“Okay, keep your shirt on. I was just checking.”
“Actually, I need to start making some calls the
