A FEW DAYS LATER, Chris and Mickey officially became the joint owners of a house that had real potential. They spent the better part of a Sunday afternoon walking around the house, inside and out, taking measurements and making lots of notes as they went. Among other things, they discovered a half bath just off the den. They’d brought a pair of folding chairs with them and sat on the dock looking down the creek in the direction of The Loop.
“I didn’t realize how far we were from The Loop,” Chris said.
“So?”
“So, nothing. I just didn’t realize how far we drove down our street, that’s all.”
“‘Our street’. I love the sound of that almost as much as I love the sound of ‘our house’.”
“Yeah,” Chris said. “This is going to be so great.”
