Chapter 1
It has been almost a full year since Rowan's passing, yet for Elowen, the pain feels as fresh as if it were just yesterday. Each day, she honors his memory by bringing orange tulips, a gesture reminiscent of what he once showed her. On the day of Rowan's funeral, as she mourned his loss, Elowen took the solemn step of relocating her grandmother's grave to rest beside Rowan; it was the best decision she made. The kingdom of Elysium is now without a king, and Elowen has taken it upon herself to advocate for the people of Elysium, engaging in discussions with the Elders of Celestial City to see that Elysium citizens can become citizens of Celestial City. "You hold the title of High Lady, which grants you the power to act as you see fit; you need not seek our approval," Vanya reassured her warmly. Elowen acknowledged Vanya's words with a nod, feeling renewed purpose and determination. Elowen soared through the skies to reach the hidden city, with Thorin by her side intent on confronting the inhabitants of Elysium. As they landed, a wave of fury washed over the crowd, with one man accusing her, "You murdered our KING!" while another echoed the sentiment, branding her a killer. "SILENCE!" she retorted, her voice laced with indignation. "Indeed, I took the life of the High King. But let me clarify: he had betrayed each and every one of you, along with the Courts, and took the life of his own brother, also killing his own parents!" She spoke with conviction, determined to reveal the truth behind her actions. The crowd gasps after revealing such truth. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation, urging her to proceed. "I stand before you as the High Lady of Celestial City, representing the Light Court. You are presented with a pivotal choice: to embrace a new life in our vibrant city, where you will flourish under our protection, or to remain in your current circumstances. In Celestial City, you will find not only shelter but also the opportunity to establish new businesses and create a thriving community. The future is yours to shape, and I invite you to consider the possibilities that await you." Elowen articulated with conviction. The murmurs of the hidden city's inhabitants filled the air, a low hum of anticipation and resolve. "I will," declared a silver-haired woman, her voice cutting through the chatter, and in an instant, the entire crowd rallied behind her, united in their decision to embark on the journey together. "Thorin?" Elowen's voice rang out, drawing his attention. He inclined his head respectfully, responding, "Yes, My Lady?" Her eyes were fixed on the majestic castle perched atop the distant hill, "Please, guide these people to Celestial City," she implored, her tone imbued with warmth. "Elowen?" Thorin's concern was palpable as he studied her face. "Are you all right? I..." He hesitated, the weight of unspoken words hanging in the air. "I know in a few days marks the day of Rowan's..." He trailed off, unsure of how to continue. "I'm fine, Thorin. I appreciate your concern," she interjected swiftly, her voice steady though the shadows of grief lingered just beneath the surface. “The General will remain here to assist you as you gather your belongings,” Elowen informed the assembled crowd. Elowen unfurled her magnificent wings and soared gracefully toward the castle perched atop the hill. As she entered Thorin's consciousness, her voice resonated within him, urging, "Thorin, inform your men that they have new grounds for sparring and training." "Elowen, what are you doing?" Thorin's voice trembled with panic as he responded. Without offering a reply, Elowen remained silent. In an instant, the palace erupted into flames, casting a shadow of chaos. Eliminating the last of Blaise for good brought a sense of finality that was both exhilarating and liberating. A smile crept across her face, reflecting the satisfaction that bubbled within her, knowing that this chapter of her life was finally closing. "Elowen, what have you done?" Thorin inquired, his gaze fixed on the flames consuming the castle from their vantage point below. "I’m simply demolishing the castle; Blaise has no further use for it now that he’s gone," Elowen replied with an icy detachment. Thorin let out a deep, weary sigh, fully aware of the motivations behind her actions. "This won't change the fact that Rowan is gone." Elowen shut her eyes tightly, the mere mention of Rowan's name sending a wave of anguish through her heart. "I understand that it won't," Elowen replied with a calm resolve. "Now, focus on getting those people to Celestial City, just as I instructed you."
