CHAPTER 6

I saw them leave, the brunette hurried off, and I even thought she might trip again. I went to the next class, and to be honest, I couldn't get Navarro out of my head; I need to find out everything about her. As soon as I finished classes, I went to the university cafeteria. I ordered a plain sandwich and an orange juice. "Excuse me, may I?" A blonde, slim, dark-eyed, with shoulder-length hair, spoke to me. "Su... Of course." She didn't even wait for my response and was already seated. "My name is Britney Veg." She smiled, resting her elbows on the table, showing off her chest even more. "Henry M..." "I already know who you are, I'm your student, but I didn't attend your class today." She spoke while playing with her hair. "And to what do I owe the honor?" I took a deep breath and tried not to lose my patience. "There's going to be a party today, at one of the clubs..." "No, thanks." This time I interrupted her. "You didn't even let me finish." "There's no need." "All the students will be there." She gave a strange wink; if all the students will be there, Navarro probably will too. "I'll think about it." "Give me your number." She smiled once more and started adjusting her neckline. "No need, I already have it." I was incredulous at her response, as she already had my number. "You already have it?!" She stood up and got very close. "Sure thing, handsome." And she kissed me on the cheek, what a girl, right? And she walked away. I finished my lunch and went to the police station. I met all the officers, reviewed some cases, and had many pending cases. Thiago is so disorganized. "You can come in!" I responded as soon as someone knocked on the door. "Excuse me, Henry." "Sit down, Guillermo," I said, pointing to the chair. "What's the urgency?" "I need you to find out everything about one of Thiago's students." "Hmm, what's her name?" "I didn't have time to find out, I only know the last name, which is Navarro." "Alright." He didn't argue, but he seemed confused. "Is there a problem?" "No, actually..." He frowned. "You've never asked me for this kind of service, at least not in person." "I don't want them to know who I really am." I've always had my aides do and find out everything I want. "Okay." He took out his tablet and did a little research. "It's Liz Navarro, she's 21 years old and lives in the L'Bella condominium." This is the condominium where my wife lives, so for now, I can't go there. "Oh, and her name is on the list of a nightclub, the party is today." "See what else you can find out, and send me everything." "Okay, see you later, Henry!" Guillermo said and headed to the door. I have to go to that club. Surprisingly, I know the owner. "Henry McNight! It's been a while!" "And you look the same, John!" We laughed. "Are you in New York?" "Yeah, I got here a few hours ago!" "There's a party at my club tonight. Come over, let's chat." That's exactly what I wanted. "Of course." "Catch you later!" "Until later." Everything's fun with John. He's way older than me, and Eric's dad introduced us. Maybe he knows something. I got home, took a long shower, and threw on a white shirt that showed off my muscles along with some black jeans. I couldn't wait to see Navarro, I was already excited just thinking about her. I headed to the garage and decided to drive my black sports BMW. I didn't have to queue up; the security guards knew me already. John was already waiting for me. "Henry, how I've missed you." He hugged me. "How's your dad?" "He's fine, I came here for business." "I see." John used to be in the mafia; he left after getting married. For some, it was easier to get out. I wish I could be that lucky. "How long will you be in the city?" "I don't know yet, I'm in Thiago's place." "Don't tell me that..." John went pale as a sheet, though I'm not sure how that's possible since he's already pretty pale, with lots of expression lines and gray hair. He's much shorter than me, probably around 5'5", and always in a black suit. "No, he had emergency surgery. I took the opportunity to look into Eric's case." I took a pause. "Don't tell me, Henry, you didn't get any leads?" "They're really vague. I just wanted to find his body and give him a proper funeral." "I'm so sorry." "Henry!" A high-pitched voice caught my attention, I already knew who it was. "Miss..." "Britney Veg!" She planted two kisses on me, one on each cheek. "Hi Bri." "Hi John, how are you? I didn't know if you already knew each other." "Henry and I are old friends." "Old?" She emphasized the word and I held back a laugh. John is much older than me. "Excuse me." "Of course, John." She shot me a sharp look; he doesn't like being called old. She and some other girls sat at that table. It was large, had red and black velvet sofas, they were very comfortable, there was a pole dance, and some of the girls there were dancing on it, taking turns. "What a surprise running into you here." She started fiddling with the button on my shirt. She smelled nice, but she didn't really do it for me, let alone turn me on. "I'm surprised too," I said, removing her hands from the button on my shirt. I walked towards the railing and observed, to see if I could find Liz. "Look, Henry, I know how to separate the professional from the personal." I turned to look at her, I was more and more sure she's not my type. "Listen, Britney, don't take this the wrong way, but..." Before I finished the sentence, she kissed me. "That wasn't intentional. I'll go grab us a drink." She didn't wait for my responses and left. I turned around again to see the movement, the bar was full and no sign of Liz, the dance floor was no different. With a quick glance, I spotted her red-haired friend from earlier today, and right next to her was Liz. She was wearing a blue dress that was low-cut, short, and had a round shape, with the back completely open down to the waist, and heels that accentuated her backside and curves even more. I was already aroused just by seeing her in that outfit. For a few seconds, our eyes met. A guy approached her, I closed my eyes and clenched my fist. He handed her a drink, and in one gulp, she emptied the glass as the guy whispered something in her ear. What the hell is going on! "Here you are, handsome." That girl again, I had already forgotten she existed. I took the glass from her hand, feeling satisfied as I tasted the whiskey; at least she got the drink right. "I'll be right back, handsome." She tried to kiss me, but this time I was quicker and dodged her. She left the booth. I decided to look for Liz, searching all over the club, and found her dancing. She was so light on her feet that I started to get excited. I started imagining tearing that dress off; it didn't even seem like a dress, more like a scrap of fabric. I snapped out of my reverie when I saw a guy approaching her, and they started dancing together. They were too close; she was rubbing against him. My blood boiled, and I felt like punching that bastard in the face. Who did he think he was? No one was going to touch her while I desired her.
