The house was quiet as John sat in his family room. He sighed as he tried to find something to watch on the television to distract him from his thoughts. He was worried about Hailey. She had been gone for a couple of hours, and there was no sign of her. That was not unusual in itself, but after recent events, he worried that she might be distracted while driving and have an accident. He was also worried about Carrie. She had her world turned upside down, and right now, was in a werewolf pack with her mate after being betrayed by her best friend and her boyfriend. He sighed again as Alice walked in with two mugs of coffee.
She smiled at him as she gave him one and said, “Don’t worry. It’s decaf. I thought something hot to drink might help you relax a little.”
“How am I supposed to relax?”
