Chapter 19

Emma’s point of view Emma meant her every word back there. The car drives back home, filled in silence. He doesn’t know why it all started. The reason why werewolves were made. There is no use for them yet. But she can’t turn away from their death. She still needs to power up, like they need her back. But now it’s not the time to think about any of this. She stares at the letter Morgan gave them, that is in her two hands. It isn’t much of an investigation for information, but the inside is. They aren’t wiping packs. They are taking hostages, based on what Morgan said. The symbol inside the letter is something that Emma has seen before. Her old classmate used to draw those on his each notebook. He was lost after trip that changed twenty lives. But she doesn’t want to connect it with him.  It can be random, a coincidence. She can’t help but think that it looks so similar to how he connected the lines. ‘No, anyone can be’ Emma puts the letter down on her lap still holding it. Jonathan, that was his name. She almost never paid attention to him, but he was after all the class happiest person. Always wearing a smile. Emma frowns while looking outside the car window. The reminded of him, reminded her of Amber too. Amber, that girl was a savage in high school. Emma quite liked her. Her phone then rings. She looks over her shoulder, glancing at her backpack for few seconds. She reaches her hand to grab it from the inside. She puts it close to her ear without glancing at the caller. “Hello?” “Hey!” A sarcastic voice answers back, making Emma rolls her eyes her. “What is it?” ‘Oh wait, didn’t I tell Laura I would pick her up’ before she even finishes her thought, Laura says “Look who forgot about me. I thought you were picking me up” “I am on my way” “Now? Today?” “Yes, a day later basically, sorry” she hears a sigh from the other line “It’s okay. I went shopping today. I bought matching shirts for our sleepover” “It’s, It’s not a sleepover.” “Am I staying at your house?” “Yes?” “Than it is” “Tsk” Emma rolls her eyes “I thought you were broke” “I have my ways. Come get me now” “Where are you?” “Umm, I don’t know” Emma is silent for a few seconds “Send me your address, I will take a taxi” Laura says first “Okay, then” she hangs up the phone and texts her the address of where she temporarily stays. She side glances at Andrew, he has been too quiet “Are you okay?” He looks at her before focusing back at the road. “I’m alright” Emma nods at his words, “Okay” They reach the road with the forest in each side. Emma glances outside once more. Her eyes furrow as she catches a form walking the street by side. “Can you slow down here?” Her glances at her but still does slows down “What’s wrong?” She shakes her head at him still focusing on the road. That from is too familiar and it is, Laura. She rolls her window down right as they are too close at the waking form “Hey?!” She pops her head out yelling out. Laura turns at her. Emma smiles. She watches her rolling her eyes. Her blond hair swaying on each side as she walks. Some fall down to her shoulder and front. Laura stops and turns to look at her. Her lips trying to not curl up but failing. The car stops too, luckily Andrew caught the mood. She opens the door, jumping out. They stop at opposite sides, standing firm. “Eeeeee” they both squeal jumping high knees up and down at were they stand, waving their hands at their sides before running at falling in each other. “Ah, I missed you, meanie head” “You talked rude to me in the phone, old friend” “Woah, you talk about that now?” They hug each tightly before letting go, fixing their clothes and messy hair. They roll their eyes at the same time getting on the car, Emma on the passenger seat while Laura at the back seats. “Woah, that’s a nice car. Who’s the guy? Or basically what” Laura whispers next to her ear. “Andrew Young, werewolf” she turns to Andrew and says “Laura Winter, human and friend” Laura then hits her with her palm on the shoulder as soon as Emma finishes her words. “Ouch” she says silently with no sound, frowning her eyebrows “How do you introduce people like that” she whispers at her “I’m Laura. Emma’s friend since kindergarten” ‘Didn’t we meet at Elementary school?” Emma glances at Laura but chooses to ignore it, let her do her own thing. She turns to look at both people “Nice to meet you” “Nice to meet you too.” She tilts her head smiling “So are you two a couple?” Laura says pointing with her finger at both of them. Emma chokes on her saliva, she then turns at Laura in disbelief “How do you say something like that to someone” “So you guys aren’t?” “I’m her soulmate” “Soulmate? Oh?” She turns to Emma with her big wide eyes in awe. She then burst into laughter “How?” Emma looks at front again, out of the window while shaking her shoulders once up and once down. Laura is still laughing filling the car with her own squealing laugh she describes it. Her old friend, laughs like that since little. Which on her back jokes everyone laughs back because of her laugher. Emma laughs silently at that “Oh, believe it. This is my soulmate. I would explain later” Laura stopped laughing with her mouth gaping open slightly. They soon reach home. “I will show her around first” Emma says to him. She gets off as Laura opens her own door. She grabs her things from the back, putting the latter inside. Emma grabs Laura’s hand while waving bye at Andrew, they step inside the house “He is loaded” Laura says as she looks around the big house “It’s conformable” Laura gasps “That’s what rich people say” she quotes back. They have watched that movie so many times, almost remembering each word. It totally fits in the situation, >.
