Chapter 10Angela was coming out from the shower when she heard the phone ringing. Who would call this early she wondered? She strained to listen, but although she could hear Bobby talking she couldn't make out what he was saying. Angela rushed to get dried and dressed, she was worried that something might be wrong, but when she ran down the stairs, Bobby was just hanging up and he was grinning.
“I've had great news,” he said. “There's a vacancy coming up at Jamieson's Grammar School. The chap who's in the job is going to Australia. My Mum's friend Peggy is the school secretary. The Headmaster and her husband are best friends. I think I've got a real chance.”
