Second Sanctum

Eisha flew straight at the Arachne and lashed out at her face with her sharp claws before swinging her large broadsword to the side and blocking one of the Arachne's sharp legs that were whipping in her direction. “KIEEEEeeeekkkk!!’ The Arachne defended against Eisha’s attack and screeched when her arms were cut by Eisha’s claws. She lifted her other hand and shot numerous bristles from her arm at Eisha.  Eisha quickly evaded to the side before rushing forwards once more and attacking the monster.  Their back and forth exchange continued for a while and neither side relented even after sustaining quite a bit of injury. Eisha learned her lesson mid-way through the battle and stopped trying to aim for the Arachne's female body. Instead, she began targeting her spider lower half and succeeded in slashing off 2 of the monster’s legs. The Arachne lost two of her legs so she began fighting more carefully. Earlier, she had been attacking her opponent in reckless abandon for some odd reason. Both women had a huge sense of revulsion towards each other so they were acting irrationally earlier. Once they sustained some injuries, their hotheadedness cooled and they began fighting more rationally. The Arachne didn’t forget that her enemy still had reinforcements while she was alone so she began to defend more and would only try to counterattack whenever she successfully caused Eisha to break her stance or balance in the air. Julius wanted to join in earlier but he felt some weird impulse to not assist his wife. Like there was this invisible force that was telling him not to interfere.  He kept an eye out and monitored the fight instead of joining it. He was at the edge of his seat because he saw his wife getting injured as the fight drew out. He wanted nothing more than to dash right in and overwhelm the Arachne woman with his army of fiends but he waited instead. For some reason, this felt like his wife’s fight so he didn’t interfere. His call was the right one because not long after, the Arachne let out a high-pitched shriek after Eisha weaved in and out of her attacks and successfully dealt her a critical blow.  Eisha had plunged her sword through the Arachne's flank and gouged out a few pairs of the monster’s eyes. The high-pitched shriek of pain seemed to have attracted something. Julius looked up after sensing that something was coming and he chuckled when he saw something large and black glaring down at Eisha murderously. “Since there’s a queen then there’s naturally a king!” Julius chuckled and knew that this was his fight. Earlier was the fight between the arachnids and the fiends’ queens, now it was their turn, the kings’ turns. Julius’s Metamorphosis skill was now able to last an hour and he was able to toggle it on and off. As long as he didn’t use up the total hour he had on the skill, it wouldn’t go into its 24-hour cooldown. After hitting level 40, Eisha’s Metamorphosis had undergone a change and this option was added to her skill and since Julius’s skill was just a copy of her skill, his skill was upgraded along with hers. Only the skills Julius copied would level up in this way while the original skills he created wouldn’t receive the same benefit. He needed to level them up by continuously using them but his only original skill was the Wind Arrow and that skill was always in constant use. It had undergone a few enhancements during the past month and it was now at Rank A. Just another 2 ranks before it became EX. Julius pulled out his bow and used Metamorphosis. He eyed the spider king that was slowly making its way down and knocked a powerful Wind Arrow on his bow. He pulled the string back and held his breath. ‘Let’s shut that big mouth of yours…’ Julius aimed at the monster’s wide-opened mouth and released his arrow. Thanks to the rank increases, the arrow was surrounded by an azure gale as it grew larger in size as it flew towards the spider king. The monster saw the approaching arrow and shot a web at it. The arrow pierced through the web and Julius exploded the arrow in the monster’s face. The arrow had already lost its powerful momentum but it still served its purpose. The exploding Wind Arrow caused the black spider king to raise its forelegs to defend and this gave Julius the opportunity to jump up using the walls of the large cavern as footholds and quickly approach the monster’s body without hindrance. Julius arrived just above the monster and he slammed his fist into its body. The monster screeched in agony as the attack caused it to slam into the ground below.  “KIIEEEE!!!” The Arachne saw her king falling to the ground and looked up to see Julius whistle. With the spider king still recovering from being slammed into the ground, Julius’s fiends stormed into the cave heading straight towards the fallen spider king. “Ah, NO!!!” With that amount of enemies rushing towards her king, there was no way for the black spider king to survive. The Arachne knew that so she tried to disengage from her battle with Eisha in an effort to support her king. Unfortunately for her, Eisha wasn’t going to allow that to happen. “Hey b***h, where do you think you’re going?” “!” Eisha suddenly appeared at her side and she lashed out at the Arachne's face with her claws. The monster’s momentary lapse in concentration allowed Eisha’s attack to go through. Her enemy’s claws slashed apart her beautiful face and this caused the Arachne to shriek in anger. “You disGUSting, w***e!” “Speak with your fists, not your mouth!” Eisha slammed her foot into the Arachne's face and this caused the monster’s entire body to lift off the ground. The Arachne nearly fell on her back but she quickly stabilized herself with her remaining intact legs, just before she could regain her balance, Eisha appeared in front of her again and she swung her fist down onto the Arachne's face. “You! Were! Eyeing! My! Husband! You! Stupid! b***h!” With each word, Eisha lowered her fist into the monster’s face, thoroughly ruining the beautiful face of the Arachne. Over at Julius’s side, the spider king was slowly being overwhelmed and taken apart by his fiends. Julius would occasionally rush in to smash the spider king’s repulsive spider head while his fiends were ripping apart the spider king’s carapace and slowly eating him. The spider king could feel bits and pieces of his body slowly being devoured so it let out an angry cry. “Hahahaha, you want to call reinforcements? How about I do the same?” In his Metamorphosis state, Julius was able to recklessly exert his control over his fiends because the strain on his mind would be relieved by his transformation’s powerful regenerative capabilities. The fiends still waiting outside the cavern all rushed in while the egg sacs hanging overhead began to crack as spiderlings began jumping out of them. It was raining spiders from above but they were matched by Julius’s numerous fiends. The battle continued for a while longer but with the spider’s queen, the Black Arachne, put out of commission thanks to Eisha, the arachnids were at a disadvantage. Eisha joined Julius’s fight and it wasn’t long before they finally killed the black spider king. “H-Honey...are you alright?” Eisha asked after the battle. She was still in her battle form because the cave wasn’t secured yet. Julius released an exhausted breath and replied, “I’m fine. How are you? You sustained some injuries earlier and the Arachne's claws were poisonous…” “Eisha is fine. Look, all the wounds on Eisha’s body have healed already!” Eisha showed Julius the state that her body was in and besides the damaged clothing, the rest of her body was fine. The Metamorphosis skill was such a handy skill since it enhanced all aspects of their body and abilities. Julius ordered half of the fiends he brought with him to head back to the Sanctum while the other half would remain here and completely clear out the Black Arachne Nest. It was just for safe measure and the fiends remaining would be the new inhabitants of the nest since he was going to transform it into a sanctum. He had to thank the arachnids since they already created the perfect place for them. All Julius needed to do was create some hatcheries and buildings so that he could completely transform the place. It would still take a while for the nest to be permeated with the Fiend’s Plasm but at least they secured the place already. “My Lord, I’ve found a suitable body of water to create a Fiend’s Cradle but there’s a slight problem…” Proto walked up and reported. His body had a few injuries and there were some black patches on his skin, clearly, he had been struck by the spiders’ venom. However, all the injuries were slowly healing and the poisoned areas were slowly dissipating.  “Show me.” Proto led Julius and Eisha deeper into the cavern before arriving at an adjacent tunnel that was hidden behind a large boulder that was placed in front of it. At the end of the tunnel, Julius saw that there was a fine pool of water, perfect to place a hatchery that could then evolve into a cradle. Unfortunately, however, the pool of water was tainted with a green color.  “...It’s been poisoned.” “Yes, my Lord. The hatcheries can’t purify this water, only a cradle can. However, cradles are evolved from hatcheries and we can’t just move your Fiend’s Cradle and bring it here…” Julius nodded at Proto’s words. He indeed couldn’t uproot his Fiend Cradle back at the main sanctum because its roots had already reached deep into the earth. It was practically impossible to move anymore. [Suggestion: Use the corpse of the Black Arachne or Black Spider King as a base for the Fiend’s Cradle. Warning: Once the Fiend’s Cradle is created using either of the corpses as a base, the generated Hero unit will inherit a portion of the base’s abilities and characteristics on top of the specifications that the King requires.] Julius frowned at the warning, but since it didn’t affect the end result of a healer Hero unit from being created, he decided to go along with the system’s suggestion. “Bring the Black Arachne’s corpse here.” “Yes, my Lord.” “Honey, what are you going to do with it? Are you not going to let the children feed and evolve?” Julius eyed the pool of poisoned water and dipped his finger in it. He felt a stinging pain and quickly retrieved his finger. “Hm, it’s okay. It’s just one corpse Eisha” “Alright…” A few fiends quickly arrived, carrying the Black Arachne’s corpse. Or, at least it should have been a corpse. “UNhand ME!” The Black Arachne had lost all of her legs and her body was being restrained and carried over by the fiends. Seeing that the monster was still alive, Julius turned to Eisha and asked, “...She’s alive?”  “About that. I only pummeled her until she fainted. I didn’t exactly deal a killing blow and since she was out of it, I thought she died...” Julius chuckled in amusement before rubbing Eisha’s cheeks. He turned towards the bound Arachne and said, “This doesn’t change anything though. You’re going to be a good ‘flower bed’ for my fiends.” Julius created a hatchery in the middle of the poisoned pool of water and immediately, it began deteriorating. “Toss her into the hatchery.” The fiends quickly followed his orders and accurately threw the Arachne into the hatchery. The hatchery was obviously much too small for the Arachne but thankfully, its size was adjustable. “WhAT aRE YOU DOing?!” Her voice was cut off in the next moment when the hatchery sealed itself. From the outside, Julius and Eisha could see that the monster was still struggling inside but not long after, the enlarged hatchery stopped showing any signs of resistance. It began absorbing the poisoned waters of the pool and unlike last time where the hatchery was sizzling and deteriorating, it instead began to expand. [Notice: Secondary Fiend’s Cradle has successfully been created. Detected consciousness of a foreign entity. Beginning merging process.] [Alert: Secondary Sanctum has been created. Formation of a new Hero unit is underway, please specify the unit’s abilities!] Julius smiled after seeing that it worked. “We already have a Queen. So now I want a bishop. Let this second unit be a healer that can revive and rejuvenate our fiends!” [Parameters and abilities will be adjusted. Estimated time of completion: 48 hours.]
