CHAPTER 39 CROSS-COMMUNICATIONAngelo sat at his desk, punching in details on the criminal database. He waited for responses to load as his eyes roamed the swarm of officers and detectives rushing around to relay news and findings about several current active cases, predominantly the serial killer case. He clicked on a police incident report from ten years ago which originated from New South Wales. A woman had reported abuse by her boyfriend at the time, but the name she provided was found to be fake. She later retracted her story, putting it down to a misunderstanding. This same alias had occurred in several calls to the police by neighbours about extreme noise from women’s screams. The police checked in on the couple, but the woman denied any wrongdoing.
