A NEW PATIENT“We have another one,” said a tall female paramedic, wheeling in a girl whose head was bleeding profusely. “She was found in the woods around the Williamstown area with signs of blunt force trauma and shots to the head. She is currently stable but with a very weak pulse and is extremely lucky to be alive.”
“Jesus,” said Jamie. She froze at the sight of chunks of skin and hair pulled away from the head. Streaks of dry blood covered the patient’s face, head, and chest over her unbuttoned shirt. An oxygen mask rested over her face. She wore a stained t-shirt and faded jeans, and her eyes were striking blue. This girl was the one she had spotted in the cafe. The girl who had wanted a coffee and Jamie paid for it. Then she had ran off.
Jamie turned to her medical team
