CHAPTER 30
WORK DRINKSAngelo and Marco sat by-side in a city pub with glasses of beer in front of them. The chatter of other patrons was muffled by dribs and drabs of people entering the pub. A TV hung high up on the wall. Round tables and stools were arranged tightly in the space with groups of people enjoying drinks and snacks. Parts of the floor was sticky and stained. The smells of beer, wine, spirits, and nuts wafted in the air. Bartenders filled up glasses as if they were in a race as their eyes roamed from one customer to another in quick succession. Soft music played in the background but the surrounding loud noises drowned it out.
