A MELTING MASKJamie walked to her upstairs study at home and sat on the black ergonomic chair, her feet resting on the fine, grey carpet. She turned on her computer, waited for it to boot up, and clicked on an old news article from twelve years prior. She couldn’t recall the details and remained still while reading the headline article: 16-YEAR-OLD GIRL FOUND DEAD IN THE WOODLANDS. TREATED AS SUSPICIOUS.
The article went on to say how she had wounds to her upper and lower torso, multiple stab wounds, cigarette burns, endured prolonged s****l torture, and had died from blunt force trauma.
