After years of unsuccessfully chasing him, one drunken night I finally ended up in bed with him.

When I woke up, he said, "So, how do you plan to take responsibility for me?"

I woke up to an unfamiliar environment...

Opened my eyes to white sheets, a white ceiling light, and a completely naked man beside me...

Could this be a dream?

The man beside me moved, lifted the arm covering his face, groped around on the bed until he found my waist, and pulled me close, burying his forehead in the crook of my neck.

"Just relax, sleep a bit longer~"

This voice...

I pushed the man off me and gazed intently at his face.

That face was still as handsome as ever, with distinct features and a slightly upturned mouth, looking utterly satisfied.

He was Zane.

The man I had liked for five years, whom I couldn't catch no matter how hard I tried, was so easily mine for the night?

Chapter 1 Am I Really Dreaming?
After years of unsuccessfully chasing him, one drunken night I finally ended up in bed with him. When I woke up, he said, "So, how do you plan to take responsibility for me?" I woke up to an unfamiliar environment... Opened my eyes to white sheets, a white ceiling light, and a completely naked man beside me... Could this be a dream? The man beside me moved, lifted the arm covering his face, groped around on the bed until he found my waist, and pulled me close, burying his forehead in the crook of my neck. "Just relax, sleep a bit longer~" This voice... As I was lost in thought, Zane opened his eyes, his gaze hazy, and casually grabbed my hand resting on my knee. "What's up, Anna?" His voice was a bit hoarse but very gentle, quite different from how he used to treat me. This really feels like a dream. If it is... Then "Zane." I grabbed his wrist. "Let's go for another round." Zane's hazy eyes suddenly brightened, and he pulled me over, pinning me beneath him, kissing my lips, but only briefly before stopping, murmuring softly as if talking to himself, "It really feels like a dream." So is this a dream or not? What exactly happened yesterday? I tried hard to remember. I remember going to a bar, having some drinks, then seeing a back that looked a lot like Zane's, and I just pounced... Then I was very forward, and he didn't refuse, even cooperated a lot... So that person wasn't someone who looked like Zane, but was actually Zane? "Where is this place?" Regaining my memory, I crawled out from under Zane's body under his puzzled gaze, wrapping myself tightly in the silk quilt. "Some budget hotel?" "This is my home~" "Your home?" I looked around, white walls, white bed, white bedding, clearly decorated like a budget hotel, the only difference being the quilt's material was noticeably more upscale. "I've seen hotels trying to look homey, but this is the first time I've seen a home look like a hotel." I couldn't help but tease. "Seen plenty of hotels decorated like homes?" Zane repeated my words as he lifted the quilt and got out of bed. I thought he misunderstood me and wanted to explain that I only stayed in such places when traveling for work, but before I could say anything, I saw his naked body again. I quickly closed my eyes. A clear yet teasing laugh came from the man: "Last night, you saw everything you should and shouldn't have seen, did everything you should and shouldn't have done. Isn't it a bit late to play coy now?" His words made me feel extremely embarrassed, but I couldn't just lose face like that. I opened my eyes and glared at him: "What happened last night? I blacked out and don't remember a thing." Zane looked at me, slowly taking off the T-shirt he had already put on, walking towards me as he did: "How about a refresher course?" I was speechless... When did Zane turn into this kind of person? By the time I got dressed and went to the living room, Zane had already made breakfast. A ham sandwich from Holiland with soy milk made from powder. "So, how do you plan to take responsibility for me?" Zane looked at me intently, feigning the innocence of a high schooler who's never held hands. I knew he was pretending. "Responsible for what? We're adults, it was just a slip-up..." Zane's expression turned cold, and his voice dropped: "Accident?" "Yeah..." I lowered my head, not daring to look at him, holding the warm sandwich, unsure whether to eat it or not. Finally, I mustered the courage to meet his gaze: "Don't you have a girlfriend?" "Nope," Zane answered very straightforwardly, and then, as if something occurred to him: "Or do you have one?" Once again, I lowered my head in shame, staring at the small gaps between the tiles on the floor, wishing I could just disappear. If I hadn't caught Yale flirting for the third time yesterday, I wouldn't have gone to the bar to drown my sorrows... "Well... I actually do." "Seriously?" Zane stood up from his chair with such force that it fell over: "Anna, you're something else!" I quickly stood up to explain, but my words came out jumbled in my haste: "No, don't misunderstand, I'm going to break up with him, right away, if you don't believe me, you can come with me..." Before I could finish, Zane had already walked to the door and opened it. I thought he was going to kick me out immediately, but to my surprise, he said: "Let's go, right now." Yale looked surprised to see Zane and me at the door. "Anna? Zane?" I was stunned; I didn't expect them to know each other. "Still you, Yale, some things never change." I was stunned again, what's going on between them? Yale leaned against the doorframe, looking at Zane with blatant provocation in his eyes: "I really can't change, but Anna is still my girlfriend. You got beaten up by me back then, and now you still haven't gained anything." What are they talking about? I looked between Yale and Zane, their eyes locked in a fierce glare, as if there was some deep-seated hatred. Yale said he had beaten Zane before. I remember the last time I saw Zane, he did have injuries. At that time, I had been rejected by Zane too many times, leaving me heartbroken and unwilling to have any more dealings with him, so I didn't ask. Now, according to what they're saying, it seems to be related to me? "Your girlfriend? Yes, but she won't be for long." Zane seemed to want to settle things quickly, raised his eyebrows at me. I didn't respond, so he helplessly poked my face: "Lost your nerve? Forgot why we're here?" I looked at him but didn't do as he said. I had never heard of what they were talking about, but since it involved me, I couldn't not get to the bottom of it. "What are you two talking about? Can someone explain it to me?" The men who were just at each other's throats suddenly fell silent. After a long standoff, Zane finally lowered his head, his gaze exceptionally gentle: "Be good, Anna. Let's handle this first, I'll explain later." I knew Zane wouldn't lie to me. Since he said he would tell me the truth, he definitely would, so I decided to listen to him: "Yale, let's break up." "Break up? Why?" "So she can be with me." Before I could say anything, Zane spoke up cheekily. Yale ignored him and kept looking at me, "Anna, you tell me, why?" Because you flirt around, cheat, and always want more. What other reason could there be? Yet, I didn't say a single word. After all, I slept with Zane last night, so Yale isn't the only one who cheated. Moreover, Yale was the one who stood by me during the darkest time of my life. And the man standing next to me is the very one who caused me so much pain and heartbreak. I have no right to blame Yale for that. "Yale, let's break up. You know who you were with last night, so let's not make this ugly, okay?" Yale looked at me without saying a word. I took his silence as agreement and turned to head for the elevator. Zane immediately followed, grabbing my hand as I pressed the elevator button, pointing at Yale's house, which hadn't closed its door yet, as if concerned or inquiring, "Aren't you taking your luggage?" "I don't have any luggage at his place." Zane seemed to be in a good mood, humming an off-key tune without even noticing. He opened the passenger door, gesturing for me to get in, but I hadn't forgotten what he promised me earlier: "Can you explain what you two were just talking about?" "Oh, that? Back in college, I couldn't stand Yale, so I beat him up." Zane said it casually, but he clearly underestimated my intelligence—or did he think I had none at all? "He said he beat you up." Even though it might hurt his male pride, I had to say it. Zane's expression changed, and he said with clear disdain, "I hit him first, then he called over twenty people, and I couldn't handle it." Twenty people? He really dares to say that. At Z University, a top-tier school, it's not a place for thugs, and Yale isn't a gang leader. Where would he find twenty people to beat him up? But that's not what's important. What I want to know is: "Does this have anything to do with me?" Zane shook his head, "No." I nodded, "Right, back then you avoided me like the plague, how could it be for me that you got into a fight." "That's not it." Zane grabbed my wrist, but I shook him off, "Then what is it?" He didn't speak. Seeing Zane's face darken, I knew I had guessed right. Zane didn't like me before, but now he's suddenly interested in me. I don't know why, but I don't want to be led by the nose. My thoughts drifted too far, and just as I thought I should leave, the phone rang. I put it on speaker, and Mia's voice came from the other end: "Anna, don't forget about the gathering tonight, bring Yale." I didn't have time to respond before Mia hung up. Was she in such a rush to reincarnate? I looked at Zane in confusion. He was still staring at me, his eyes even more confused than mine, as if he hadn't recovered from the earlier emotions. I quickly called back, and Mia answered quickly, "What?" Her tone was sharp, probably because someone cut in line in her reincarnation queue. "I won't be going tonight. Yale and I..." The call was cut off by the man beside me. I turned to him, "Do you have something to say?" Zane raised an eyebrow, glancing at my call log, "Mia? Haven't seen her in a while. I'll go with you." "??? You know Mia?" "You'll get to know them once we go." Mia is my college roommate. Tonight, we planned a group outing. Her boyfriend also went to Z University and seemed to know Zane. As soon as they met, he pulled Zane to a corner of the KTV to drink. "Anna, when did your boyfriend change from Yale to Zane?" Mia looked at me with a bit of gossip in her eyes. "This afternoon, five minutes before I got your call." I glanced at the two men who were chatting happily. Zane seemed to sense something and looked at me, tilting his head and squinting his eyes with a smile. I immediately said, "To be precise, Zane is not my boyfriend; he's here to meet you." "Yeah, right, I don't even know him." "I know~" "By the way, Mia, did you know that Zane was once beaten up?" "Yeah, I wanted to tell you back then, but you covered your ears and refused to listen." So it really happened: "Do you know why?" "Apparently, there was a guy at our school who loved to cheat, and Zane stood up for his girlfriend. Don't you think Zane was being nosy? What does someone else's girlfriend have to do with him? You were so..." "What's up with you? Are you in shock?" Mia noticed my odd expression and looked at Zane, who was glancing over at us: "What's the deal with you two?" I told Mia about what happened last night and this morning. "What do you think Zane means by all this?" "Who cares what he's up to, Anna, let me ask you one thing: do you still like Zane?"
